With goal routs, the League of Ireland featured a contested week

With a much awaited fanfare and grand fete in the colossus of Carrickmacross Road the Lilywhites followers in attendance treated to a grand performance from its squad sealing a grand win with a goal rout over a hapless Bit O’ Red.

As all the fronts in the League of Ireland seeing full action in the last matches of this amazing campaign, the name of the game was to score the living daylights of your foe and seeing how the Hoops are taking a lead in the race for third.

However, I do praise the work performed by recently promoted Waterford doing a dandy of a campaign and delivering a one of a kind campaign in the end, I do praise the job of manager Alan Reynolds.

In Carlisle Grounds a doomed Bray Wanderers playing its last matches in the Premier association, these were easy prey to the wrath of an insistent Dublin side in the Bohemians FC showing off their firepower in the coast.

So far, in the campaign Bohs manager Keith Long and company have put on a show and looking forward to next campaign, with Dinny Corcoran putting on a goal fest with four goals and Kevin Devaney to seal the deal.

Bray Wanderers 0, Bohemians 5

Back in Brandywell the local Candystripes host the likes of the league former champions Cork City still putting on a late fight but a little too late as today the Town lads hoisted the Trophy as this edition champions.

Still for the visiting Rebel Army with a three goals scored by Barry McNamee the former Derry mid in the 14’, OG by Gerard Doherty 48’ and Shane Daly- Butz 87’ and preserve a clean sheet for goalkeeper Peter Cherrie.

Derry City 0, Cork City 3

In Market’s Field the local Limerick side was looking forward to a win but found out that their visiting foes the Saints of Saint Patrick’s Athletic that played their best football and readying for a more promising 2019.

However, these Pats under caretaker Ger O’ Brien his lads delivered mayhem over the local Blues as Pats Kevin Toner opened the score in the 11’, followed by  Jake Keegan 22’, OG by Jack Brady 48’ and Simon Madden 49’.

Limerick 0, Saint Patrick’s Athletic 4

In Tallaght Stadium, the local Shamrock Rovers sealed it with an all-around class and dominance over their new archrivals the visiting Waterford Boys looking to seize a decisive victory from the local Hoops.

For Stephen Bradley and company seeing the perseverance in the end paying off for his Rovers, the fruits of his motivation well represented today with scores from Gary Shaw 11’, Dan Carr 35’ and Sean Boyd 87’ and for the Blues Ismahil Akinade 73’.

Shamrock Rovers 3, Waterford 1

In Oriel Park, the local Dundalk Lilywhites celebrated aloud their newly achieved league title and today the league representatives were on hand at the colossus of Carrickmacross Road.

Crowning their recent achievement Stephen Kenny and his Town Boys showed why they are the Champions my friends, with the Bit O’ Red not able to stop the scoring madness of the locals delivering a rout.

The Lilywhites scores came from John Mountney scoring a double in the 9’ and 42, followed by a lone goal by Michael Duffy 33’ and another double from super Patrick Hoban via a penal in the 58’ and 63’.

Dundalk 5, Sligo Rovers 0
