Dundalk FC nab a valuable win in Dublin

Back to back, wins for the Lilywhites in the weekend over the Finn Harps and on a scheduled League of Ireland Monday match in Dublin against the Students of AFC at the UCD Bowl.

In spite of the win by the visiting Town side, this win did not come easy for the defending champions, as they looked vulnerable in the early parts of the match. 

The first reaction of the game started by a play created by the Students top playmaker Conor Davis and passing to a wide-open Yousef Madhy this displaying a grand technique and stunning the visitors. 

As Yoyo Mahdy opening the hostilities for the locals in the 11’ minute put the local College Boys with the early lead. 

However, for Vinnie Perth and company these not known as quitting kind, as the response of the Lilywhites was immediate after with a counter attack that led to a foul inside the area of Daniel Kelly.

That led to a penalty awarded by game official Damien McGrath, after seeing such a flagrant foul by Students Paul Doyle and for the visitors via Patrick Hoban scoring the equalizer in the 15’ minute.

With the first half ending with the score even, the second showed off a lot of contest from both sides. 

As good defense and another amazing performance by De Town goalkeeper Gary Rodgers denying a numbers of intents by the Students and a clear shoot by the Republic of Ireland U-21Niall Farrugia’s shoot. 

For both sides showing off a much-contested game, it was on the second half when the Lilywhites Michael Duffy scores and showing off an individual effort beating the Students keeper for the game second goal and taking the lead on the 51’ minute.

To conclude the match for the Town Georgie Kelly scoring the cushion goal in the 90’ minute and deliver its second consecutive win two days as well keeps a close chase on the league leaders the Shamrock Rovers leading by seven points.

Back to back, wins puts the Town seven points within the league leaders Shamrock Rovers.

Hail to Michael Duffy, Georgie Kelly and Patrick Hoban being vital to the Lilywhites attack and sentencing the match.
