What are the Portland Timbers lacking?

Whatever happened to that squad full of ambition, hunger and overall playing a one of a kind and dynamic football in the start of this campaign, looking as total contender and the one to beat in this 2017?

Yes, the Portland Timbers is that squad.

After showing a lot of promise and with new faces, we believe that they were going to take the league by storm and no one would stop them, especially after posting three consecutive wins.
Giving them, a new look of an invincible and renewed squad.

That was then and now back to a not so pleasant reality, when this squad hit with notable players in the disabled or suspended list, became a world of difference by losing their rhythm.

In the case of the Rose City squad, losing their main man Diego Valeri, Liam Ridgewell, Darlington Nagbe and Jake Gleeson, these made a whole world of difference and being absent in matches considered important.

Still the absence of notable players should not be a cause to drop matches and it’s the turn of the bench to come strong when needed- something not seen by some of these players coming as a relief as we can state just one has delivered.

Indeed, all matches in a campaign are important for any squad in its quest to contend for the title.

This is something serious to consider but no to start blaming or pointing fingers towards no one as this is a team effort and the way the game should be addressed by this squad is by playing with hunger.

As the Timbers Boss Caleb Porter, known to me as the Cheesmaster for his awesome and accurate moves with his initial elevens, seems that in the recent matches his moves have been checkmate.
Is the correct answer consistency and focus, you may be right, but there is a long way to see this campaign finish when its taking flight and the best is yet to come.

Contrary to its start, the Timbers have dropped matches considered vital.

We all know about the men in black incompetence and ridicule calls leading to many squads’ meltdowns on any match, still the need to fight back and start a comeback should be something seen as an all-around  urgency.

Something not address lately by the PTFC and at the end they are surrendering horribly a whole number of goals against, defensive woes I doubt it- still the backfield needs to put is part and start playing more fiercely against its foes.

Another point is the use of T2 players with Arboleda, Eboisse in offense and Farfan, Clarke and Batista can be sufficient to build up the defense in case this area is starting to falter for the Portland squad.

Why not use the T2 system to build up the squad, very well the Portland Boys need to step up their game when they are playing in the road as the way they did against Dallas that almost became a win one that could been considered a valuable one.

Another shortage for the PTFC is the need to close games and not lay their guard down as well when they start down in the scoreboard, their courage and ire exposed and add more ambition.

Now with a full squad in their upcoming match in Seattle, sans Diego Chara suspended for his Montreal bubu, whoever gets the opportunity to align alongside Guzman should be safe and step up his game as Chara does it.

At the end the lack of fighting, closing, ambition and hunger should be up aside and do the opposite to start a new chapter in the remainder of this campaign, the Seattle match should be the stepladder to a successful campaign.
