Lots of work ahead for the Boys in Green

Despite the win and the opportune goal from a persistent Seamus Coleman who took advantage of a blink of an eye from the Georgia keeper who could not got hold of the ball and for the Republic of Ireland Captain, with just a push scored the difference maker.

Giving the Green Army, a 1-0 win and putting them in a four-squad tie at first in their group of play.

For the Green Army netting a well-deserved win after battling in what appeared to be a much hardened and stubborn Georgian National squad with its backfield that was a bit stingy and much prepared for the salvo coming from the local Irish squad.

With several matches scheduled for today, among one of the notable ones in Group D was the Republic of Ireland playing host to Georgia and seen as a modest squad’s- today’s match was not an easy affair for the Boys in Green.

Very well, the Georgians did not play like an easy foe as well!

As Aviva Stadium almost filled to its capacity and many of the followers of the Green Army seeing a slow start from its initial eleven, at the end, they went home with a smile and the satisfaction of seeing their squad put on a fight.

Still, for the Boys from Erin the outlook is not so positive and being among the four squads situated in first place, the Republic of Ireland Boys is one of those squads sharing the group top but being within its bottom.

I mean with Wales and Serbia sharing the top of the group with a much prolific goal differential in favor and little against, as the Welsh Dragons with a draw against Austria and Serbia with a notable win over Moldova.

The Republic of Ireland squad is very low in goals in favor with three in favor and two against versus Wales with six in favor and two against and Serbia with five in favor and two against and Austria with four in favor and three against.

The outlook for Martin O’ Neill squad is loaded with plenty of challenges, especially if his desires are to take his Green Army into the next stages and so far with squads in Wales, Austria and Serbia being their main foes to beat.

He knows that his next matches to be play with his Boys as an away squad will be an all-around challenge and in October 9 against a low profiled Moldovan National squad at Stadiunul Zimbru, Chisinau.

Closing this 2016 their last match of the qualifiers will be on November 12 to play at Austria at Ernst- Happel- Stadion at the capital Vienna and this seen as a very important and a win considered as a vital one for Manager O’ Neill’s aspirations.

As 2017 looks much harder and being their first matches at home in the colossus of Dublin, Aviva Stadium, opening against Wales on March 24 and later on June11 with Austria, both matches considered crucial and grueling for the Boys in Green.

The path to Russia looks difficult but not impossible and for the Boys in Green not letting their guard down and quitting in their persistence, that will be a recipe for their immediate success and possibly a ticket for their qualification.

Another issue to solve is their openings are to slow and conceding too much terrain to its foes as well the formation used by Manager O’ Neill in a 4-1-3-2 became a bit difficult and opening many spaces and gaps between the midfield and backfield which were taken advantage by the Georgians.

At the end, the prospects seem a bit favorable for the Republic of Ireland and the possibility abound for its squad of making it into the World Cup if its stamina and spirits filled with lots of enthusiasm continues to shine through the knockout matches.

Bravo for the Foireann peile náisiúnta Phoblacht na hÉireann!
