Dundalk playing with true grit

A draw with the essence of a win was the result at Afas Stadium back in Alkmar, Netherlands, after a determined 10 man Dundalk FC- came back and through the opportune score of substitute Ciaran Kilduff a valuable point was rescued.

With this score, the possibilities are abundant for the Lilywhites.

For the league of Ireland back to back to back champions and looking forward to net their third shield, Dundalk FC is now living the hype of an all-around excitement of playing with the big guns of Europe.

Despite of losing to Legia Warsaw and seeing their near possibilities fulminated of playing among the elite of Champions League, for the Lilywhites Boss Stephen Kenny the Europa League will keep his squad very busy.

Seeded in Group D, the Loth County Boys are in company of such distinguished and tough company in Russia Zenith, Netherlands’ AZ Alkamar and Israel’s Maccabi Tel Aviv.

As the hour of truth came upon the Loth Boys, for their Manager Stephen Kenny it is back to business again with his Boys, looking forward to start writing history once again for this successful club in these stages. Being the stage groups in full action, the Irish Boys were ready to open at always-difficult Afas Stadium, located in Alkmar, facing a one tough and hardened AZ Alkmar.

The Netherlands Boys of the AZ squad, being no foreigners to these types of competitions, obviously were the overall favorites to deliver three points of gold, as for the Dundalk squad playing as an away squad and against a not so easy foe, the outlook did not look at all positive.

Still one thing this club during the qualifiers, showing a lot of perseverance and persistence and seen as a not so strong eleven playing as a visiting entity, these Boys don’t care when the going gets tough and a bit odd, these can overcome any challenge given.

Despite the red card and leaving this squad to play with ten men, for their Boss Stephen Kenny seeing the diligence his squad has put and standing firm by showing no inhibitions or being intimidated not even by the Alkmar followers chants in high decibels.

As the match started between these two titans, the locals immediate presence and confidence was seen in the scoreboard, Stijn Wuytens on the 60th  minute opened the score for the home squad and later that their fortunes change for the best.

With the advantage in tier favor and dominating the whole match, the Alkmar luck took a turn for the best when in the 70th minute the visitors left with just ten men when Dundalk’s Stephen O’ Donnell ejected with a blatant red card.

Making all sorts of moves the Dundalk Boss seek the ultimate of strategies to when he introduced Robbie Benson, Chris Shields and Ciaran Kilduff to start something in the AZ backfield.

Still for the Men of Stephen Kenny, this match was not far from over as suddenly his moves at the end paid off for the best, when he introduced Ciaran Kilduff as a super Sub and suddenly with a play that derivate from Darryl Horgan for the equalizer.

At the end, the Dundalk squad dominated in some instances of this match and seeing how the locals did puta goal past Gary Rogers, the vising Lilywhites put up high the name of the Airtricity League of Ireland with their insistence.

Very well playing with true grit is what the Dundalk Lilywhites will be showing off in its upcoming Europa League compromises.
