FC Cincinnati a strong candidate for MLS

Since this club inception in the United Soccer League on August 12, 2015, no one would ever imagine the effect and success this entity was to have in the annals of soccer in America.

Still who is the FC Cincinnati and why am I focusing my attention towards a so-called minor league squad that so far has focused its attention and goals to obtain a franchise and become a part of Major League Soccer.

With a club that has made an all-around spectacle, ever since its presentation and performances, its think tanks for sure were not aware of the sudden impact this club was going to have and its acceptance from a city submerged in its traditional sports.

I mean with a professional baseball club on its Cincinnati Reds, NFL Bengals, collegiate the Bearcats from the university that bears this city name, Xavier and its neighbor University of Kentucky.

In addition, the Buckeye state filled with major professional and collegiate powerhouses.

Suddenly we have professional soccer in Cincy or Nati, which has fit very well among its citizen’s that have responded fervently and very much passionately for its support.

So far, this club biggest achievements and headlines that has made it is the attendance numbers, especially when a friendly between them and Crystal Palace on July 16, 2016 with a total attendance of 35, 061.

Catching the attention of many media giants among one of them London Daily Telegraph and several publications in the internet, still since that match this records of attendances did not stop cold, as in USL regular matches and the playoffs.

The FC Cincinnati is showing its readiness to be a part of America’s grand football league MLS.

As Major League Soccer commissioner expressed the readiness and resolve of expanding the league competition to 28 total squads, this awakened the interest of several cities numbering 12.

With San Diego, California, Charlotte, North Carolina, Detroit, Michigan, Indianapolis, Indiana, Phoenix, Arizona, Nashville, Tennessee, Tampa Bay/ St. Petersburg,  Sacramento, California, St. Louis, Missouri, San Antonio, Texas, Raleigh/ Durham and Cincinnati.

From these candidates, the league commissioner Don Garber will have to decide for just four and with Cincy making all sorts of attendance record attendances and its seeing its growing number of supporters in every match.

For sure, Queen City can deliver one of those four spots, as recently in a US Open Cup competition and these playing a sort of Derby against an MLS squad considered big in the Columbus Crew, the Cincy squad delivered an upset.

Very well with growing rivalries with Pittsburg Riverhounds and the Louisville FC in the USL and delivering record attendances in these matches, Nippert Stadium their temporary home, Cincy has exceeded its limits from 25, 000 to 30,000 plus.

With a section called the Bailey, here all of the Cincy supporters groups unite and show their support, with the Die Innenstadt, the Pride, The Legion, Queen City Firm, The Bailey Bastards and the Den.

All of these have impressed the league commissioner when he visited Cincinnati and see its readiness to embrace a league franchise that brought a sure reminder of the Sons of Ben in Philadelphia in the times when these wanted to get a franchise.

Moreover, the city of Brotherly Love became the sixteenth team in Major League Soccer dynamic expansion.

Now with a plan of building a state of the art stadium, the FC Cincinnati is looking forward to deliver a one of those spots and believe me this squad is one serious candidate to seize one of those spots, they have all the right moves.
