Can the Philadelphia Union Rise to the Occasion this 2015?

That’s the initial plan of its current Boss, second year man Jim Curtin, who is looking ahead in what many see a much contested edition of Major League Soccer- entering its twentieth edition.

As his Union Boys reinforcing many of its weak areas and don’t want a repeat of last campaign debacle- were this squad did not make the postseason and posted very mediocre numbers in the overall table.

Hopefully this squad from the City of Brotherly Love can overcome many of its upcoming challenges and mount in what many will see a reaction and trounce its competition.

Especially in the newly rearranged Eastern Conference and to soon be rivals in OCSC and NYFC who will become another foe to beat as well make it into a contested 2015.

A competitive and ambitious squad is what the Union is hoping to conform in this upcoming year of many challenges as well seek their attention of making the league playoffs.

Very well the squad adding experienced players to its ranks to boost its initial eleven in the likes of defender Steven Vittoria from reputable Portuguese league giant Benfica and CJ Sapong from SKC to add more depth to its roster.

For its supporter group the Sons of Ben, a vocal group that influenced for the foundation of this club to the ranks of MLS and making its debut with its own venue PPL Park at Chester, PA.

Known in all of MLS circles as one mean and spirited group of supporters, the Union squad will do the same on the field to never let its support core down.

Still for the U, since its inception it has shown a hardened stance against teams outside the league and with an impressive record with several wins in their favor over squad’s from Mexico, Greece, England, Scotland, Germany and Costa Rica.

In league play their renewed rivalry with next door neighbor cities in the likes of DC United, New York Red Bulls, expansion squad NYFC and New England Revolution, as well its cross country competiveness with the Seattle Sounders.

This Union squad will not run but face a very heated opposition in its 38 matches throughout a very belligerent and antagonistic campaign filled with a lot of challenges and surprises at the end.

On their preseason so far the Union has exposed some of its flaws, still this is only a series of preparation matches that will show its Manager Curtin the weak sides of the U’s and how to remedy it on a timely manner.

With moves and additions as well cuts in its roster, the Philadelphia Union is showing lot of improvements in its overall preparedness, the Zolos will put a contender in the field and aspire for the league shield.

If not win it with this new squad- determined to reach new heights and bring a lot of new satisfactions to its followers, the U can do it with style and ambitious desires, indeed!
