Not even with VAR and Sterling double, City could not contain the Wolves

Yes, against the champions at home the Wolves are somehow looking like a true contender and tonight these delivered an upsetting blow to the likes of Pep Guardiola Citizens, despite Var and Sterling double these could not hold their lead. 

With an early call, courtesy of VAR after Riyad Mahrez was fouled, as Wolves defender steps on the Algerian foot and the collegiate did not hesitate to award a penalty. 

As the Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio guessing the move from Raheem Sterling shoot, by stopping the shoot the whole of Molineaux went frenzy but not for a long while as the game official immediately went upstairs.

Suddenly VAR awarded a second opportunity to the visitors with an encroachment call from Wolves keeper and the PK was to be repeated and to the dismay of Sterling, he missed but he got a lucky bounce.

Going into the 55’ minute, the Wolves open the door when the combination of Ruben Neves and Adama Traore these latter one scored the goal that uplifted the locals with a beauty of a shoot outside the area. 

However, in the 80^th minutes the Wolves started a rally that gives them the necessary elements to raise with a valuable win, when Adama Traore challenging City’ Mendy and putting a ball into the feet of Raul Jimenez for the equalizer in the 82’ minute.

Not even seven minutes passed by when Wolves Raul Jimenez returned the favor when his assist became the game-winner by finding Matt Doherty and these not hesitant to put the finishing touch in the 89’ minute. 

Despite VAR being favorable for the defending champions City and with a Sterling double, the way Wolverhampton has been playing lately somehow tells me that this team one day can raise the league cup soon.

The troubles for the Sky Blues were the benefit for these hardened Wolves, with Ederson red card and Sergio Aguero substituted by a second string keeper Claudio Bravo, all the right moves were within their reach.

Norwich City could seal this match, but Wolves turnaround made the difference

In the end, the Wolves took advantage of all the breaks they got in the course of the match, as this team playing on the road somehow is playing a hard-hitting game and today at Carrow Road we saw their game-defining moments.

 As the Canaries having all the right moves and overall opportunities to seal this match at home, unfortunately once again not so fortunate plays that the visitors took the advantage in the end.

However, for the locals, the outlook looked positive from the start of the match, as the opportunities to open the score were numerous, still, the efforts performed by Wolves keeper saved the day for Nuno Espiritu Santo side. 

For Norwich City side striking first, the locals were looking a bit invincible and determined, opening the score after two early near goals it was a shoot rebounded horribly by the Wolves defense.

As Todd Cantwell taking advantage of the shoot in the 17’ minute, opening the score for City and sending the whole of Carrow Road into a frenzy, as the Canaries were to hold up the lead for sixty minutes. 

 

Still, these Wolves were not done and put away as Romain Saïss in the 60’ minute with a perfectly executed pass by João Moutinho even the match up at one goal apiece, despite the local’s persistence to extend the lead. 

As the man of the match Raul Jimenez after missing one chance horribly, the Mexican became the hero with a beautifully executed volley that put the Wolves ahead in the 81’ minute for the win. 

This win catapults the Wolves to sixth place with 27 points and within a point of Sheffield United with 28 points and two from fourth-place Chelsea with 29 points.

Linfield win gives them a two-point lead in the NIFL recap

The Boys from Linfield win over a relegation prone Point put them in the top of the Dankse Banc Premiership, taking advantage of Coleraine and Crusaders draw and going up the table with two points lead. 

For teams like Larne adding points, Glenavon with a couple of wins on the weekend and on Tuesday, these are making a solid statement, but for the Swifts, Point and Institute things are not so positive. 

At Inver Park the local Larne Reds and Coleraine Bannsiders shared the spoils with a draw at two goals each as both sides still undefeated, somehow the locals are moving up the table in sixth place. 

On the Bannsiders these sitting in second place and trailing the Linfield Blues by two points, the goals came from David McDaid 7’ and Mark Randall 66’, for Coleraine Eion Bradley 38’ and Josh Carson 92’.

Larne 2-2 Coleraine 

In Milltown the visiting Linfield Blues came and deliver more agon to the local Point Boys with a defeat that uplifted the defending champions at the league top with a two-point lead. 

With goals from Andrew Waterworth opening the score in the first minute of the game, and a second goal almost on the end from Shayne Lavery in the 90+1, the Blues cruised to an easy win.

Warrenpoint Town 0-2 Linfield 

In the Oval both Crues and Glens tied at one goal each, with the locals score from Robbie McDaid 80’ and Crusaders Jamie McGonigle 49’, in the end, both sides share of points. 

Glentoran 1-1 Crusaders

The Swifts came to the Showgrounds and face off a suddenly resurgent Ballymena United that rose to the occasion and taking advantage of its condition of local and looking to start a turnaround.

I mean with an opening goal from Andy Hall 2’, an OG from Stute Jack Bradley 35’, Andrew Boye 40’ and josh Daniels 87’ to seal the deal and for the locals, Jammie Dunne scored in the 90+2’.

Institute 1-4 Glenavon

On the Cliftonville game and Carrick Rangers scheduled for December 14 after its postponement and being under discussion to be played at another date.

On Tuesday game between Glenavon and Carrick Rangers was decided by a lonely goal by Daniel Lamour 30’ at Morneview Park to score back to back wins for the Lurgan Blues.
