Despite the Rebel Army sealing their fourth consecutive FAI Cup appearance after a win over the Gypsies in Turner’s Cross, for the Leesiders their pass did not came easy after battling a worthy and tough foe.
With scores from Karl Sheppard and Graham Cummins City for the KO and seal the deal, still these had to sweat it out after the Bohs Ian Morris sent a beauty of a shoot to make it into an all-around contest.
However, the way this side based in Phibsborough are playing lately we may have contender next campaign in the League of Ireland, as manager Keith Long is looking forward to a prolific campaign in Dalymont with his Boys.
With a positive record against their cross town foes the Shamrock Rovers and Saint Patrick’s Athletic, these Bohs with a little consistency and a commitment to excel this campaign would been a positive one.
Still there is the adage of next year and for sure we are looking forward of a fighter and determined side looking to fight for the league top three spots with this young squad manager Long as well seeing a return of its majority of starters.
Look out league, as these Bohemians will be for real and one tough challenge to beat.
So far, this club faith deposited in its academy seen in my personal opinion as the one of the best and with a promising future with a majority of its top prospects to one day make the cut into the big squad.
With their U-15 and U-19 making all sorts of accomplishments across the Emerald Isle and placing highly in these important competitions I see a bright future for this club not to depend on getting outside players for reinforcement.
I see this club with an all-around potential to be a fierce and serious competitor and with some players exposure in major contests like the FAI in this year campaign in the SEE as one disputed one, these club has reached into a more mature stage.
In the end, their elimination from the FAI Cup is a lesson well taken and learned by manager Keith Long and his side that next year will brace them into a more focused and mature club that for sure will deliver many more memorable afternoons for their faithful.
Undoubtely this club for sure will be among one of the top ones competing with the likes of Dundalk and Cork City for the top of the league of Ireland and looking forward to the league title and a couple of trophies from its top club.
Seriously in this business of being a freelance journalist you cannot take sides, however the potential this club showed in the end and netting valuable wins, makes you think of their amazing capabilities to see.
