Arsenal 3, Leicester City 1
Emirates Stadium, London
The legacy that
Arsene Wegner left in Emirates is paying off for his successor Unai Emery,
doing a one of kind job at the helm of this Islington, based giant and now
looking to be heading into the top spots in the overall table.
With a 3-1 win over Leicester
City unable to display any offensive threat over the locals, thanks to own goal
play from defender Hector Bellerin in the 31’ minute putting the visiting Foxes
in an early lead but shortly.
As these Gunners have
come alive under their new leader in Emery as the Spaniard of Basque origin
coming to Emirates to start a new winning era and the man by far is delivering lately
after his squad slow start.
If these types of
comebacks persist in the Gunners why not get the moniker of comeback kids, as
these have earned their seventh win in a consecutive form and looking good as
the campaign is entering in its best stages.
When I said the visiting
City squad had its lead for just a few minutes, this was because of a grand
shoot delivered by Mesut Ozil when Hector Bellerin passing to the Gunners
midfielder who never hesitated of taking the shoot.
After his early
booboo done by Arsenal defender Bellerin suddenly the Spanish recovered and
started becoming an important part of the locals starting eleven all around
attack that in the end became the game changer.
As Mesut Ozil score
came in the 45’ minute after a nice fabricated play tying the match at one
apiece in the late minutes of the half that despite the addition of two minutes
being added, the game went for the Gunners side.
After the start of the
second half, once gain Emery and company went hard at work to try to seals this
one up and continue their winning ways with a total daomiance in the second
half and despite many tries by the Gunners.
For the man from
Euskal it was time to start making some much needed changes in his eleven
making changes with Matteo Guendozi went I for Henrik Mkhitaryan in the 61’ and
Stephan Lichsteiner substituted by Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang.
Moves that in the end
paid off for manager Emery when once again his defender that early messing up
and scoring on his own goal, Hector Bellerin started to fabricate in what became
another scoring play that gave the lead for his Gunners.
With just two minutes
into the game the man from Gabon delivered on the opposing team nets and
beating the likes of superstar goalkeeper Kapser Schmeichel in the 63’ minute
and putting the home side in the lead.
That err early by
Bellerin was immediate forgotten with a one of a kind play that put the home
side in the lead with a couple of many considered valuable assists that in the end
became the game winners.
Still this affair was
far from over as three minutes later in the 66’ minute when Mesut Ozil pass
found once again a wide-open Emerick to seal the deal, score the go-ahead goal
for the win, and put on a defensive gem to persevere the win.
