The Villains spelling their salvation in wins

For Aston Villa is suddenly playing one amazing game of football, with today’s win over revived Watford, the Villains returned the favor these endured back with a 3-0 loss on December 28.

Still, the long road to salvation is paved with a lot of obstacles and despite the competition and next week match against troubled Bournemouth, the odds are not favorable but challenging in coming out with a positive result.

So far, the Villains have managed in five games after losing two to manage two wins and a draw to uplift them out of relegation spots and with two points clear of Bournemouth who they play on February 1 on the road.

Suddenly, the recently promoted Villains had their share of struggles and being on the bottom three spots that teams earn their relegation, suddenly with having a fight Villa side looking forward to seeing another season in the ranks of Premiership.

A momentum-stricken Watford under Nigel Pearson, the Hornets were on a positive streak and looking to see a continuance, today these saw an inspired home side coming from behind and netting an important win at home.

As the visitors were the first ones to open up the scoreboard in the 38th minute thanks to a close-range header by the Orn's top scorer Troy Deeney to put the Watford side up on the board and going into halftime with the lead.

In the second half, the dominance of the Hornets was visible and their confidences growing as every minute passed by its when disaster hit them when Villa substitute Douglas Luiz equalized in the 68th minute via a rebound.

With the score tied as both sides came near each other goals, the persistence put on the locals honoring their moniker of Lions paid off on injury time when Tyrone Mings scored the winner in a dramatic fashion.

When Ezri Konsa Nagoyo put a fierce shot and found Mings to net the game-winner in the end and putting in the safety zone the likes of Aston Villa and sending the Hornets back to the bottom three in the nineteenth place.

Dundalk FC ready to rock the League of Ireland

Vinnie Perth continued the winning legacy of his contemporary in Dundalk and with no surprise in the debutante as the man almost won all the silverware for the Lilywhites in 2019.

I mean the man won the League of Ireland, League Cup, Presidents Cup and the first-ever All Ireland Champions Cup defeating the North’s powerhouse Linfield FC but succumb in the FAI Cup against league runners up Shamrock Rovers.

However, for the upcoming season not only the challenges will abound for the Town, as manager Perth is aware of the upcoming challenges ahead in what promises to be a very contested campaign in the SSE.

Still for Vinnie Perth after winning the league shield, comes another challenge for his team to prove their mettle and with the upcoming stage group elimination in the Champions League looking to assure a spot among the world elite.

This is it for Dundalk to prove why they are the real champions and make a positive run and try to make it into the stage group this time, a task seems formidable and difficult but, in the end, not impossible.

The departure of Robbie Benson to Saint Patrick’s LOI side, Dean Jarvis to NIFL Larne and Jamie McGrath to Scottish League St. Mirren’s made the Lilywhites front office going into the task of netting important players in the offseason.

The arrivals of defender Darragh Leahy from Bohemians, midfielder Greg Slogett from Derry City and midfielder Will Patching from Notts County and former Manchester City academy, these lads will provide the creativity manager pert is looking in his midfield.

So far, in the preseason the Town has shone with a goal-fest win over relegated UCD and now in Spain to face off a couple of powerhouses in what manager Perth has labeled a quality and benefits his team will get in a couple of friendlies.

With CFR Cluj from Romania and currently the leader of this country league and with a second match against CSKA Moscow in Alicante, Spain as the team is looking forward to reaping the profits of playing a couple of heavyweights from Europe.

The outcome of these matches will expose the newcomers to adapt with the current player base and build up their confidence ahead of what seems to be another contested season in the SSE League of Ireland.

For Dundalk coming again as the overall favorite and with sides like Shamrock Rovers, Bohemians and maybe Derry City as their only opposition, these can play their game with a healthy side, no doubt we can see a repeat in the top.

Finn Harps looking for a better finish and content in the top spots

Ollie Horgan has signed a two-year extension with Finn Harps, very well the man is looking forward to a prolific and impacting season with his Blue and White Army in this upcoming 2020 season.

Last season despite the struggles the team managed to stay afloat in the Premier Division and winning the promotion playoff against Drogheda United to see the day along his Harps in the Republic of Ireland top tier.

As the followers of the Finndus Crisp Pancakes at Ballybofey are anxiously waiting for the start of another exciting season as well see a contender in the field of its White and Blue Army, ready to take the SSE by storm.

So far, the club has made once again a few moves considered as valuable, in its roster, looking ready and with the return of the majority of its 2019 base, this time certainly make an impact in another contested edition in the League of Ireland.

With players from last season as defenders Mark Russell and Sam Todd, midfielders Ruari Harkin, Mark Coyle, Tony McNamee, Mark Timlin, Mark McGinley and goalkeeper Gareth Harkin, and the promotion of academy U-19 Jamie Brown.

The club has solidified its base and with the incorporation of new players, hopefully, the club can take a role in the LOI to start a decent run around the top spots and once again be sentenced to fight for its survival in the relegation spots.

The arrival of defender Dave Webster (St. Pats), midfielder Ryan Connolly (Galway United), Karl O’ Sullivan (Limerick FC), midfielder Shane McEleney (Larne FC) and midfielder Adrian Delap on loan from (Derry City).

For manager Horgan, his idea of getting a number of midfielders to reinforce this strategic area of the field is to give his team a new dimension in its game with more creativity and dynamic in its offensive game as well build up its defensive game.

The idea is to conform a contender with the new arrivals and the returning players in building a contender and maybe create an era of winning in these parts of Donegal, still this team will not contend for the title but a finish in the middle of the table will do!
