The Republic of Ireland result against Poland with the essence of a win

Not everything was negative for the Boys of the Republic of Ireland with a close win over their hosts in Stadion Miejski, in the end the locals push determined the result of this match with a draw at one goal each.

With an early goal from Aiden O Brian in the 53’ minute, putting the Green Army in the lead to a stunned Polish followers seeing in disbelief how the visitors  were capitalizing on a oversight from the local White and Reds.

However, in the end the result ending in a draw at one goal, with a late score from the locals from Mateusz Klich in the 87’ minute to even things up, but in the end this result became a positive one for the Boys in Green.

With the aftermath of the rout the Republic of Ireland suffered a few days ago in Cardiff from an inspired and valiant Wales, in the end a loss and draw levels this international stand for manager Martin O’ Neill send him back to the drawing board.

As the need to step up, close the book in a couple of distracting complications, and bring some needed order as well restoring the confidence in this group  and put aside the issues in the Roy Keane and Declan Rice controversy.

This result for sure uplifts the levels of confidence that many thought the Republic of Ireland squad lost in that UEFA match against Wales and today the Boys in Green performance getting the lift these needed to display a new game and spirit of competition.

For this match manager O’ Neill set up a 3-5-2 formation combing experience players with newcomers that are within their third cap to start seeing their development in upcoming games and continue their preparation.

In the defensive backfield with three players in Richard Keogh team captain, Shane Long and John Egan these latter one with just four caps versus his teammates with eighteen and eight. These did hold their ground defensively despite the local’s pressure.

As manager O’ Neill scheme of having a more dominant game coming from the midfield, with a lane of five in Cyrus Christie, Jeff Hendrick, Shaun Williams, Callum O’ Dowda and Enda Stevens to maintain control of the midfield and start generating their plays.

In the front two promising players in Callum Robinson and the game scorer Aiden O’ Brien who between both just have managed six caps with the Republic of Ireland, but they are not doing a bad job as today put in evidence of these lads willingness to deliver.

With some details to correct after these two matches played by the Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’ Neill should start getting an idea of the style of game and strategies to follow in the future of the Green Army.
