The Watford Hornets off to a prominent start

Watford 2, Tottenham1
Vicarage Road, Watford

Whoever thought that the Watford Hornets were to an amazing start in the campaign, under the direction of Javi Gracia who took over the helm of this, so far he is delivering this club a spot in the top three elite.

With a come from behind win over at home over a hardened Tottenham side coming to these parts of Hertfordshire with the labels of an all-around favorites to take three easy points from the Hornets’ nest in Vicarage Road.

For manager Mauricio Pochettino he was not a happy man after the end of the match seeing how his side could not sentence this match despite the Hornets own goal scored by their midfielder Abdoulaye Decoure in the 53’ minute.

As the Argentinian saw in disbelief how his star-studded initial eleven was shut down completely by a squad that last campaign almost had a total meltdown in the second half after a promising start that cost the job to then manager Marco Silva.

That was then and now with Gracia we can see a new Yellow Army making the best in this edition of Premiership so far tied with Liverpool and Chelsea atop the league table with twelve points for each squad and no stopping them.

After a scoreless first half, the outcome of this match in the next 45 minutes was to be one amazing contest from both squads looking forward to a goal fest or at least get one goal in the scoreboard that could make the difference.

With the Spurs amazing win last week over Manchester United accompanied by a clean sheet, the possibilities were endless for the visiting Lilywhites to net an easy win, but in the end the tables were turned for the worst for Poche and company.

As their defensive backfield was impotent to stop a energy filled Watford side supported by its majority of followers that inspired their squad to rally late in the second half after an own goal scored that brought the best of this initial eleven.

With a very unorthodox and strange 4-2-2-2 formation sent by Javi Gracia to counter on the Spurs offensive driven 3-1-4-2, in the end the Spaniard had the best game displayed by its Orns all afternoon long.

In addition, with Spurs controlling a whole majority of this match in the end succumbed to their inability to find the ideal opportunities to find a gap and put in a score.

However the way fortunes smiled today were in its majority to the local Watford squad and to a valuable and opportune passing and assisting from Orn defender Jose Holebas twice serving the game winners.

With a pass in the 69’ minute to Troy Deeney  the home side tied this match up to later opening the door to this inspired defender making his good use of his abilities and once again hitting on the money the likes of Craig Cathcart in the 76’ minute.

The rally and comeback shows off this squad all around poised and determination to make a decorous run in this edition of Premiership and not only nab a European spot if not the league shield, still this is a little too early to tell.

In the end, nobody can tell whom in the top if Liverpool, Chelsea or Watford surrendered first as well next match away in Old Trafford against Manchester United who already loss to the likes of the Spurs, to beat another giant will be one amazing feat for these Hornets.
