So close but no
cigar, that has been the story with the pioneers of Major League Soccer, the
New England Revolution, after being so close to the shield, which still keeps slipping
out their grasps.
After a 2013 filled
with a lot of setbacks, for one of the originals of MLS since its inception- a
squad considered as one of the most hardened and successful.
The Revs showed off a
sound recovery this 2014- very well a recovery that saw this club leap into the
league finals for the sixth time since their existence.
Still with a familiar
foe once again in the Los Angeles Galaxy, a three time victimized of the Revs
in finals past, this fourth one wasn’t an exception always left in the edge.
Seeing their luck ran
out after losing once again and no paid back for their past affronts and losing
once again, in what it seems their story of losing an elusive shield.
That was then and now
2015 will see a determined Revolution looking to fly high once again in this upcoming
edition of Major League Soccer that really looks like a challenged and
contested one since its beginning.
For a squad of the likes
of the New England Revolution, that isn’t in the need of netting any big name
players and a repeat of its roster, this squad is once again all over favorite
to repeat into the league postseason.
As Revs fourth year Boss Jay Heaps, he knows what
this campaign will be for him and his chaps- seeing an escalation of new challenges
in what it seems to be a very contested 2015.
Very well its front
office desire and go ahead of building this squad a soccer exclusive stadium,
as the Revolution is one of the last of the founding squads, that doesn’t have
its own venue to just call home.
With a midfield that
none of the Revs foes wants to face off with Scott Caldwell, Jermaine Jones and
Lee Nguyen being the leading figures and the addition of Sean Okoli and Joe
Nasco- this squad looks up and ready!
A squad to follow
very closely and overall favorite to repeat in the top of its Conference that
had some changes and new challenges and Derbies to come with the inception of
NYFC as well its neighbors in the Union, DC United.
Promising indeed, is
what many marvels see in the Revs new players during the preseason- by
performing up to this club standards- without some of its top stars some of them
in compromises with USMNT and others in the DL list, still this quad is up and
ready once again.
It never seem to
amazes me, how this squad is building itself as a potential contender in this
and other campaigns and hopefully their desire of netting a shield in League
play as well in the International stages may come soon.
