With a lengthy international break over, finally league
play return to many leagues and among one of them in Premiership, with several
front in action but one that caught our attention with an upset.
For Manchester City looking forward to a return into its
old winning ways, coming to Carrow Road today and play against newly promoted
Norwich City, was to be an easy affair for Pep and company.
Not to Daniel Farke the manager of Norwich City, as today’s
match somehow spelled for both sides several players sidelined by injuries and
among one of them with the most were the local Canaries.
Still the odds favoring the defending champions, the local
Yellow’s somehow labeled as the underdogs despite playing at home, in the end these
today played not like a promoted but a defiant and settled Premiership side.
As Pep Guardiola foresaw a win that could been imperative,
to maintain a close chase with this season league leader and with their cross the
Merseyside foes, Liverpool Reds.
To face off a squad of the likes of Manchester City was
not an easy endeavor.
The way manager Daniel Farke had to juggle with a roster
of eight players on the DL and two on a long term and with Patrick Roberts
being ineligible, with starting keeper Tim Krul and center back Ben Godfrey playing
with pain.
Still for manager Farke the way he improvises and call up
some players to be in his starting eleven and eighteen in the end paid off with
a much resonated and spectacular win that raises several prospects of a
positive season.
The project envisioned and so far, working for now for manager
Farke is seen his team currently on the right track but the league barely is catching
on and with several matches left, anything can happen.
In the case of today's win, the Canaries can build their confidence
around it, not every day the Boys can beat on the likes of a squad coming as the
defending champions and seen as unstoppable.
The first goal came from a corner where the City
defenders looked alone and the locals beyond to make any damage to its goal,
but a nice clean header by the Yellow’s Kevin McLean to beat City’s keeper
Ederson for the first score.
In the 18’ minute the locals had the lead and exposing a
bad defensive strategy planned by the visitors and allowing the locals to go up
in the scoreboard and inspiring the home side to go for more.
Not even ten minutes passed, when the Canaries moved up with
the lead in the 28’ minute when Teemu Pukki passing in a counter play to a wide-open
Todd Cantwell to strengthen the lead at 2-0.
As the half coming to an end, the Yellow’s defense left a
gap for Sergio Aguero to score and put is team within a goal in the 45’ minute before
halftime and with an inviting second half to come.
Once again for Norwich City Argentine Emiliano Buendia
getting his second assist of the game with a nicely executed pass to Teemu Pukki
in the 50’ minute to seal the deal and extend the lead to two goals.
As a blunder in Manchester City defense with its top-class
City defenders Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones routine play that in the end, became
costly for the Sky Blues when a wise Emiliano Buendia robbed the ball and
passed to Pukki to seal the deal.
