Recap in the League of Ireland in its penultimate week


The Bohs are in Europe as for Derry City edging closer to the grand fete of UEFA’S European qualifiers that gives in its ultimate prize the coveted stage group, as the Candystripes with a game pending against Finn Harps at home in Brandywell. 

However, for Cork City netting a win over the defending champions Dundalk at home in Turner’s Cross as well for the Hoops netting a valuable win over relegated UCD as for the Dublin derby this ended in a draw in Phibsborough.

In Finn Park, the local Harps got a valuable win over the visiting Blues, with an early and lone goal from Joshua Smith in the 6’ minute was enough for the locals to net an important win over Waterford.

In the Bowl the local UCD already sentenced to relegation, these hosted the likes of second place Shamrock Rovers in a game to complete their last matches in the Premier Division.

With goals from the Hoops Joey O’ Brien 14’, Graham Cummins 45’ and Brandon Kavanaugh 64’ to seal the deal and net a clean sheet for the Rovers goalkeeper win.

In Richmond Park the Pats and Bohs, finish the Dublin Derby with a share of spoils and with a draw the Gypsies crown their efforts in this season with an automatic pass to European competitions.

 San Patrick’s Athletic 0-0 Bohemians 

Turner’s Cross this season became not so prolific for the local Rebel Army, playing in what used to be a long past Derby against the recently crowned champions Dundalk, these coming as overall favorites.

However, the locals with a lone goal and intensifying a very stingy defensive game in the end, edging the visiting Town to a lone goal from Daire O’ Connor in the 44’ minute to seal the deal and permanency.

In the Showgrounds the Sligo Rovers could not defeat an unstoppable Derry City that so far is playing a top-notch football looking for the last European position and nearing the promised land.

The local Rovers went up the scoreboard with an early goal from Lewis Banks in the 13’ minute but the visitors the reaction came via Jamie McDonagh 34’ and Barry McNamee in the 42’ to earn an important win.
