Saint Marys’ live up
to its Derby with its distant neighbor in the Bournemouth Cherries who were
staging a first of Derbies between these squads.
After Bournemouth
landed a promotion for this edition of Premiership, the upcoming competition as
well the dispute for the bragging rights in these dubbed as the Forest Derbies,
undoubtedly will be a generator of an all-around excitement.
I hope that many will
see these competitions as attractive, despite the Saints faithful singing about
one South Coast Derby as their unique and contested one with neighbors
Portsmouth FC.
As today’s match had
a lot of significance as well dubbed as important for the Cherries Boss and
vital in their quest of survival and not losing another match.
Still for the Saints
coming with a positive record and determined to net three easy points out of the
visiting Boscombe FC, this squad really played a beautiful football and
although the visitors really put on the pressure.
The Southampton
initial eleven really played over zealously to protect Maarten Stekelenburg
posts all afternoon long, from a determined and not giving easily Boscombe
strikers core trying to even the scores.
Coming strong in
every play that really made the Saints backfield really earned their pay in a
very persistent Cherries attack that really looked a bit ferocious and ambitious.
On the Southampton
side with both Graziano Pelle and Steven Davis delivering the winning goals
that netted their squad a valuable win and moving them up the table.
So far, Manager
Koeman has seen a positive series of results and seeing his moving upward the
overall table were they stand firmly at seventh place with seventeen points,
just eight points behind the Gunners and Citizens.
I mean this squad has
been very competitive since the Pochettino years and the Dutch Boss after
inheriting it, he really has continue his amazing work polishing every
intricate detail and positon in this squad.
The Saints came marching in very graciously
in front of their followers and netting a key win as well a valuable one in
these newly instituted Forest Derby an hopefully for years to come we can see
more of these competitions.
The right moves and formula in his strategies
has netted a series of valuable scores lately for the Southampton squad, being
their Boss Ronnie Koeman lauding the wonderful work his chaps by far the
wonders they performed.
At the end one winner emerged from this
event and for the Saints its back to business next week going against a decimated
Sunderland and for the Cherries it’s now or never to better their stance in the
league overall table.
