The second and
definitive leg of the knock rounds between these two Cascadia rivals was going
to be one dramatic and excited match, very well to determine an overall winner
to advance to the postseason semifinal stages.
With a determined and
hungry Portland Timbers, a squad that in the whole campaign made its followers
suffer and at times in matches that could be a win and did not happen after
lacking that offensive spark.
I must say, was it a
sign of the times or just a simple strategy of Manager Porter to fool his foes.
That was then and
after the Timbers earned their postseason pass with convincing and out of this
world performances, so far this squad is on fire and looking for more.
Still one match at a
time, as the hunger seen by a motivated PTFC, is turning heads in all of the
confines of Major League Soccer, with their repertoire of performances and a
Manager that in every match displays a new face in his lineup.
So far netting
positive results and making this theme as the postseason kid- if not a possible
favorite in reaching the league finals with a continuance in their
performances.
For Manager Caleb
Porter and his chaps just needing one goal as a win or simply drawing, netting
the advantage of the away goal, that was not the case and this squad showed
off, is mettle as an armada!
Moreover, this squad
is showing its might and total ambition as a total underdog in every one of the
postseason stages played, the Rose City chaps will not care of their status,
they just play with a thing in common, just win!
After this campaign
Vancouver staged a brilliant win back in March at BC Place and a couple of
draws at Providence in matches that the Timbers could won and the visiting
Caps pure luck persevered and netted valuable points.
This match saw a
Vancouver squad with a sole advantage as a home squad and with its star players
back in the starting lineups; unfortunately all of that Canadian initial eleven
performances, were seen as dismal as well one missing in action all 94 minutes of
play.
Very well a defensive
backfield that the Caps was overwhelmed by a dominant Timber’s squad that
really didn’t stopped in their efforts of making its goalie David Ousted
evening, one living hell finishing this match with a nice 2-0 score.
After Adi’s goal on
the 31st minute and silencing a packed BC Place showing off a nice
27,837 in attendance, the PTFC Boys just played to win as Diego Chara
sealed the deal in the 94th to put the final touches.
“This is it”, is what
PTFC Boss Caleb Porter his squad has been putting in display in every match
played lately and now going against a hardened Dallas FC squad to play in the final and both of them split wins in both their meetings.
The table is set for
the Rose City Boys to write history on and deliver a Shield, still as stated
before just one challenge at a time, will be enough for Timbers Manager Caleb
Porter to make a party in Portland!
HAIL MIGHTY
PTFC!
