An important win recorded
today at Lyon when the brave boys of North Ireland did the ultimate feat of
getting their first win of the tourney, rolling over a modest Ukrainian
National Team. With a convincing 2-0 score, all of a sudden the Norn Iron is
third with three points, just one behind the first place squads of Germany and
Poland.
With a match pending against
the World Champions Germany, the Green and White Army can do more than history
and an all-around feat if they defeat the German Eagles or draw. Alongside of luck
being on their side, possible the Ukrainians can do the ultimate of miracles by
upsetting Poland, you never know.
For now, they just
need to focus in tier next match and all around challenge to try to seal their
pass into the next rounds, and although they state that, the best third place squads
can advance into the next rounds. In The Case Of Manager Michael O’ Neill,
getting a direct pass will be a feat like no other for him and his Boys.
In today’s match, we
saw a hungry and determined Norn Iron trying its best of getting a positive
result alongside of getting the win at whatever cost, something that this squad
put in evidence of tier might and ambition to net its first three points in the
tourney.
This time the Green
and White Army Boss did the right moves and risked everything for this moment,
as in their opening match the Irish showed off a very defensive formation and
this time a 4-3-3 with an attacking initial eleven all afternoon long.
Manager Michael
O’ Neill saw the fruits of his labor giving him positive results and opening an
opportunity for his squad continuance in this edition of EURO.
As the heroes of the match
were Gareth Mc Auley scoring the first goal in the 49th minute of
the second half and seeing how a belligerent and stubborn Ukrainian side dominance
of the ball and insistence over the posts of Michael Mc Govern. The backfield
of the Northern Boys did it with style and stopping their rival’s cold in their
tracks for a meritorious win and clean sheet.
Very well, in the 96th
minute when a substitute in Niall Mc Guinn put the icing on the cake and with
his score sealed the deal for the Norn Iron Boys and netting a win that makes
this squad continue in their fight and once again see a fairytale unravel.
Today’s match showed off
a very hardened North Ireland squad as well its Boss making all the right moves
in his lineup that paid off at its end. Very well, one that defied the not only
the opposite initial eleven but the elements when the match called off by a storm
of lighting and hail.
Still when the game resumed
the Ireland Boys keep on pressing and playing like there was no tomorrow filled
with plenty of heroics and showing off what teamwork is, a very raucous win and
one that puts this squad in contention.
As jubilation reigned
all over the Norn Iron bench, still the prospects of their next compromise will
be put in evidence the way and momentum this squad is filled with, very well
going to seal their pass will be a one tough and accomplishment to fulfill.
To play against
Joachim Low German National squad, seen in today’s match as lacking a target in
its strikers, anything can happen for the Green and White Army in doing the ultimate
of upsets in the history of the EURO.
