A Hardened Cork City Squad Determined to the Top

For the Cumann Peile Chathair Chorcaí or better known as the Cork City Leesiders, this edition of the SEE Airtricity League has all the likings of a disputed campaign.

As for their Manager in John Caulfield, he cannot believe the level of playing as well determination that his squad is showing off in each match played.

Showing mettle like no other as well a winning ambition, that can put this club in the horns of the moon, if they continue their successful run in every league match as well its internal competition’s.

That so far their level of playing like no other has netted them a convincing victory as a visiting squad at the always difficult Tallaght Stadium, by giving the hosts a lesson of football with a 2-0 final score.

And what a performance given by Mark O'Sullivan and Gearóid Morrissey, that lifted City to their fifth consecutive win as well keep a close distance over another resurgent squad, the Dundalk Lilywhites.

Three points is just the difference that keeps the Rebel Army into the SEE first place and with 22 matches left in the campaign, very well things can change for the Leesiders fortunes if they maintain their current level of play.

Although with back to back loses with league current leader in Dundalk and the defending champions Saint Patrick’s Athletic , that was a good reason for this club sudden fury and determination in their quest of seeking the pennant.

With victories over Derry City, Limerick, Bray Wanderers, Athlone Town and their last victims in the Shamrock Rovers- City are embarked on a mission to excellence.

Still the league will undergo a break until the 26th of June- their next match on next day against Limerick will determine of the off period was of benefit or cooled down City objectives.

I doubt if this will slow down skipper Caulfield chaps, as their compromises in the FAI Ford and EA Sports,  is one reason for this club to continue their quest for perfection and by netting key wins that can bring not only one by three shields.

Something that Turner’s Cross Stadium at Curraheen Cork County hasn’t seen since 2011 and its hungry for glory as well trophies that its faithful followers will cherish as well it’s this squad to reward it’s all around efforts throughout the campaign.

By now the Cork City squad will focus in its upcoming compromises after the break and their next step in the FIA Ford Cup were they defeated a clueless Saint Mochta’s; at the end this club is one to follow very closely.
