A One Sided and Convincing Sounders Win at the Cascadia Derby

This was the number five edition of the always thrilling as well considered nail biting Cascadia Derby, between two of MLS top tiers.

I mean a match where the Rose City chaps go against their I-5 northern rivals and Emerald City natives in its first place Seattle Sounders.

As always these type of face offs are seen like an all-around Derby in league circles and although is between three of the league squads- these matches are something not to miss in your lifetime!

Century Link Field was the site for the second match between the Timber’s and Sounders, were these two titans in their first match tied at Rose City Providence Park- on what many dubbed it as a scoring feast.

This time the Portland Timber’s and its Manager Caleb porter saw this match as a challenge as well try to avenge that match that almost netted them their first win as well three golden points.

Indeed, this match was another challenge in this campaign, where the Timbers man at the helm has sorted all sorts of experiment’s and moves in his initial eleven- in order to make a solid wall around his stellar keeper in Donovan Ricketts.

Unfortunately, thing’s didn’t work as planned for the visiting skipper, after seeing how Seattle and his stellar players from Team USA return to the Rave Greens lineup.

And very well the Seattle international proved valuable for his squad, in scoring the go ahead goal on a wild play at the 74th minute and Marco Pappa finally producing in the field sealed the victory in the 87th.

Another loss for the Timbers, where it hurts the most, not only missing three points but losing in the always disputed Derby as well almost eliminated from contention in the Cascadia Shield.

On the other hand, those Rave Greens really came prepared along their Manager Sigi Schmidt that never stopped believing in his Bhoys all evening.

Still there’s another match pending at Providence Park in Portland and against Vancouver to wrap up these Cascadia squads their compromises ahead in the final matches of the league along of looking ahead for the league post season.

at the end these matches were Vancouver, Portland and Seattle are involved with their Cascadia rivalry that dates since the days of that disappeared NASL,  this rivalry and derbies held between these three really give a lot of pepper to Major League Soccer.
