UEFA is one contested
and exciting competition and although its reputation is not comparable or regarded
as highly as a Champions League.
Still its squad’s involved
in it, have one serious and unstoppable commitment to excel as well put their
club’s and league up high.
This is the case of three
of the SEE Airticity League squads from the Republic of Ireland, currently involved
in the first leg.
With the likes of Dundalk
Lilywhites, Derry City Candy stripes and the Bit O’ Red Sligo Rovers, seeded in
the first round along 78 squads.
The Sraith na hÉireann or League of Ireland squads, are really determined
to soar into new heights, in this edition of the UEFA Europa League.
Making an all-around statement in each one
of its rounds is what these squads are prepared for and determined to make it
into the final rounds.
Something that hasn’t happened for the Irish
League squads in this type of competitions for a good while, as well looking
not to be eliminated in the early rounds.
Playing their first leg with their already
assigned rival’s, the Irish squads really fared well on the first leg of two to
be played with their across Europe opponents.
In the case of the Cumann Peile Ruagairí Shligigh Sligo Rovers going against Lithuanian FC
Banga at Gargždai Stadium for a draw at zero goals and playing the
return match on July 10 at Sligo County Showground’s.
The Bit O’ Red can
capitalize on their condition of a local and mount a score that will give them
their pass to the next stages as planned by its Manager John Coleman.
On the side of the Cumann Peile Dhún Dealgan Lilywhites, playing
currently a prime time football in the Airtricity League and currently being on
first place and going as a visitor to the Princedom of Luxembourg against as a
belligerent and not so easy opponent.
Being Stade la
Frontiere at Esch-sur- Alzette in the background, the current leaders at home
really got a result worth celebrating as visiting of 2-0 with both scores from their
top of the line midfielder in Richie Towell.
And lastly the Candy
stripes in Derry City did their own feat at the Dragon’s den of Wales by really
victimizing a clueless Aberystwyth Town Seasiders by a not so friendly score of
4-0.
Showing off for the
Cumann Peile Chathair Dhoirehome or Derry City side at Brandywell and going back to Wale’s with a
nice lead that seems difficult for the Seasiders to mount.
Well done for the Airtricity
squads so far, by showing off a mite
and power not seen for a while along an ambition to overcome the odds and
advance to the grand ball.
