How about those persevering Leesiders, after setting their sights on
the Airtricity League top, suddenly they are ahead three points over Dundalk.
As nothing is written in this edition of SSE Airtricity League, it
looks like this campaign it’s up to two squads that will fight till the end.
And those are the Rebel Army and the Lilywhites, which these latter
ones have a match pending over a resurgent Athlone Town poised to leave the
cellar.
Nothing being written in this edition of the SEE League, those cellar
residents on the Ards can make a point in playing the role of spoilers for the
Dundalk chaps.
Still the Rebel Army is atop the league, but they have fought their way
after being displaced at the top by the Hops and later on the Lilywhites.
With a match considered a not so easy affair for Cork City, Manager
John Caufield really put his chaps to work, as this wasn’t going to be a walk
in the park.
Very well wasn’t, as the UCD chaps through Robbie Creevy who surprised
the Leesiders followers with an early lead on the match sixth minutes of play.
That wasn’t an excuse for the Cork City chaps to put their guard down
after a slow start and non-imaginary game, which was allowing the College chaps
a lot of liberties.
Finally the Leesiders got a grip on their game and started making the
best to get back in to this contest by netting several plays that surprised
their guests.
After that red card on The Students middle man Hugh Douglas, things
went from bad to worst for the pupils of Aaron Callaghan, leaving his side with
just ten men and a lead of one goal.
This was well taken advantage by the locals in their visiting foes
anemic and confused state by netting the equalizer on the 33th minute courtesy
on a Billy Dennehy to make Turners Cross into a raucous state.
The match continue with a determined College ten trying to derail the
momentum of the locals, saw its fortunes turned sour after the match hero Mark
O’ Sullivan courtesy on a corner play by Colin Healy’s.
Turning this go ahead goal on the 75th minute and the winner
of a well contested match, that saw its efforts rewarded with the League top
and ahead with a three point difference over archrival Dundalk.
