A Red Dominated Edition of the Hudson Derby

Since the arrival of the NYCFC in MLS circles, the battle for bragging rights of dominance in the Big Apple will intensify whenever each one these squads play each other in these so called league Derbies.

In this second edition of the Hudson or Big Apple Derby however you want to call it, the tables were turn in favor of the Jersey side Boys for the second time in this campaign.

A one sided and one of a kind disputed Derby and although the NYCFC had all of their top guns in the field, still the tables were turned in favor of the home squad and the NY Red Bulls squad shined by playing an intelligent and more ambitious football.

Two goals were enough for the NYRB to net for the second time the so called Hudson Derby and start in what will many see a longtime and bitter rivalry between these New York squads, something seen outside the stadium between their follower’s pathetic behaviors.

Something not acceptable in all Major league Soccer after all the idea is to enjoy the game and attract families to presence the beautiful game, not to witness a group of drunken, unacceptable and ill- mannered blokes that with their hooligans style behavior.

They give the beautiful game an ugly side in the stands as well making unsafe for many to attend without being in fear of being attacked by wearing the wrong colors.

Getting back to something more pleasant and more soccer related in this note, the NYCFC had all the elements to net a victory and with its complete and star studded initial eleven that Manager Jason Kreis included his three aces in Andrea Pirlo, David Villa and Frank Lampard.

That wasn’t enough to deter a or intimidate the local Red Bulls that weren’t impress with the squad in front of them and their only goal was to become the dominant side in this campaign of the Hudson Derby.

As NYCFC Boss didn’t see anything happening- after his Red Bulls nemesis in Red Bulls Manager Jesse Marsch getting at the end of this event,  the upper hand in this match considered vital for his Red Bulls aspirations for pursuing a spot for the postseason.

So far the Red Bulls are seeded in second place in the overall table of the Eastern Conference, within eight points of their archrivals the lads of DC United who are playing once again like old times and seeking the MLS and Supporters shield’s alike.

At the end the New York Red Bulls Manager Jesse Marsch saw his efforts and moves rewarded with his initial 4-2-3-1 formation and seeing how an inspired Bradley Wright Phillips and Felipe did the ultimate of efforts for the winning cause.

One hot and contested Derby between these two MLS rivals that in campaign ahead will be disputing their all-around bragging rights in what has become a fierce and contested rivalry in campaigns to come.
