Recap of the League of Ireland with the Rebel Army and De Town


With the race to the top becoming a bit interesting in the League of Ireland, between the defending champions Cork City and Dundalk FC. In the upcoming weeks, we are to brace for a contest between these two titans.

Three tied matches highlights this week of action in the SSE and the return of Cork City in the positive and taking advantage of the Lilywhites draw to make it even in points and tied in the overall table at first place.

Still with the match between the Shamrock Rovers and Limerick was to be one for the local Hoops to net a positive result and get out of their odd streak, by facing a trouble and lately struggling Super Blues.

Once again, the Rovers had the elements of netting a positive result and at the end; these shared points with the visitors, with an early Shamrock Rovers score via Graham Burke in the 15 minute, the visiting Blues even it up on the 86 with a late Daniel Morrissey goal.

In Phibsborough colossus Dalymont Stadium, the local Bohemians were looking forward to deliver an upset against the Rebel Army of Cork City, as Keith Long and company looking forward to start a positive streak, came short.

As John Caulfield and his Cork City side poised for a positive result, delivered a couple of scores alongside the Gypsies luck was not with them, with Colm organ in the 10-minute and Graham Cummins 65. This win delivered a one of a kind win and tying with Dundalk at the league top.

Watford playing at home is one invincible foe to mess with and this time Bray became their latest victim with a rout and with a double from Faysel Kasmi 53, 90 and Derek Daly 81, these were enough to get the Blues back in the winning column.

In Oriel Park a duel between two streaking sides between Dundalk and Derry City, looking to extend their winning ways, at the end this match ended up on an even note. 

For the visiting, Candystripes Aaron McEneff in the 42 and Eoin Toal 47 and for Dundalk FC with scores from Robert Benson 6 and Michael Duffy 45 seal the draw and share of points between these two titans.

In the Showgrounds, the Bit O’ Red and the visiting Saints equalized to zero goals in a dull match were both sides had in their share of points to tier benefit.
