So close but no cigar for the Toronto Boys

As always, the infamous penalty kicks define the winner in this edition of CCL.  The local Chivas Rayadas or Striped Goats playing at home delivered and left the visiting TFC near of achieving the glories of CCL.

As the Toronto side, missing two opportunities in the penalties gave the locals a boost to rise to the occasion and delivering a win to represent CONCACAF in the World Cup of Clubs.

So close were the TFC and many things come to mind if those goals back in BMO would been prevented and if the opportunities of goal would been taken advantage, still the Canadians and MLS representatives did a wondrous performance in the end.

After eliminating two of Mexico’s powerhouses Tigres of UANL and Club America, Chivas Rayadas of Guadalajara was to become their next victim and once again be the first in winning, a competition of this caliber for a MLS based squad.

Give another final to the likes of LIGA MX from Mexico once again showing off tis might and achieving another win to send in one of Mexico, has one of the most celebrated and loved squads to represent it in this event.

No upset this time against the Chivas or Goats that played a one of a kind game and showing an all-around mastery over its Canadian guests to net the win going perfectly in the penalty kicks with Alanis, Godinez , Pulido and Saldivar scoring. For the Toronto, side seeing their orchestrator Sebastian Giovinco being dominated and not allowed to display his brilliant game.

Also seeing how Jonathan Osorio shoot deeply influenced by the local’s goalkeeper Rodolfo Cota many movements intimidated him to miss and Michael Bradley once again failing when most needed. For the Reds Sebastian Giovinco and Marky Delgado scored.

This became one of the local’s recipes for success and this is something that manager Greg Vanney needs to improve in his attack not to be solely dependent on the Italian and be sparked the other members of the initial eleven in the field.

Still this loss is nothing to be ashamed but there is always a next time and for manager Greg Vanney he and his Boys will have another shoot in the next edition of this tournament to see if the second time is the merry.

As the local Rebaño Sagrado or Sacred Herd played like in its best days and despite not having a one of a kind campaign in this edition of the Mexican championship, today they deliver their second Shield in this type of competitions.

For Toronto now is back to business in league play and level their troubled campaign were they stand last in the Eastern Conference with just three points and now to defend their hard fought title in looking forward to a revival.

Once again two Canadian teams have been so close to CCL glories and so close but no cigar as Montreal being the first one and now Toronto being the other MLS squad to be near such a feat and just coming short.

As previously, mention there is always a next time and for a squad known as the comeback kids, Toronto can do it as they have a shoot at another CCL!
