The Prospects of a Shield for the Portland Thorns

An inspired and offensive minded Portland Thorns- opened up their campaign of the NWSL, with numerous fireworks and showing off their desire to net the league shield again!

Still this was their first match of the campaign and so far for Paul Riley’s Lassies, putting a display in the field with such mastery and determination, that the Boston Breakers couldn’t contain such a hunger from an inspired initial eleven.

Like always Rose City supporters really enjoyed an evening of spectacular and out of this world football were the local Thorns really put on a show, especially with an inspired midfield crew that really put on a display and four goals in the opposing squad nets.

The PTFC really looks like an all-around contender, still this summer we have the Women’s World Cup of Soccer celebrated north of the border, this and many squads of the National Women’s Soccer League will be losing their starters.

Still this isn’t a loss cause as many of these squads already have some girls in stand by and will prove their mettle and belligerence, stating their overall readiness to seek a spot with the big squad, but they really have to leave an overall impression.

For yours very truly this is my first time writing about women’s professional soccer and what I saw the other day many in the opposing men’s league can learn a thing or two from these lassies- playing with a lot of ambitions and hunger.

Notorious is the way I can describe a dedicated and double scorer in midfielder Allie Long as in both plays she really showed her passion and love for the game, giving you the explanation of why is called the Beautiful Game!

Hang a star on those girls’ performances as well from Sinead Farrelly and Meleana Shin who contributed for the winning cause as well take a bit of pressure from their Manager back, as always the first match is the nerve racking one.

Giving the Liverpool native Boss a way to smile and approach the rest of the campaign with such enthusiasm and optimism that can be transmitted to his girls and maybe seek a second shield for the halls of Providence Park from its Thorns.

With nineteen matches left in the campaign the Thorns are ready to front a combatant Western New York Flash squad coming from a horrible defeat from the Seattle Reign and a visit to Benedictine University Sports complex to face the Chicago Red Stars.

With the way PTFC will be playing this campaign, undoubtedly this their year that can net a lot of satisfactions to its followers and players alike after seeing their efforts crowned once again as an overall contender of the NWSL.

If I Root I Root for the Thorns!
