The Portland Timbers Ready to Salute a Contested 2016

The Boys from Rose City are back with a resolute determination and conviction to defend proudly their hard fought crown won in 2015 that left many in awe.

Not only this was a magical run but also one that showed- the football world how a squad belief from its manager and their unity better described as a Band of Brothers lifting this squad against all odds!

By putting on a show on the regular campaign, especially its last matches as their game became so inspired and beautifully displayed minute by minute- that at the end earned them the league absolute of glories.

That was then and now is a new campaign and squad that saw many of its important players leaving to other destinations and new faces came, normal for a squad that did so good, but for their Boss Caleb Porter will be making a start from scratch.

Despite the departures, their main unit or elemental core of their defense and offense, returning with such a hunger and ready to make a prodigal run into what seems a campaign full of an unmeasured number of challenges.

Still for their man at the helm is business as usual and a new chapter with new faces coming into Providence Park to accommodate them to their game scheme and make an important run for the league title as well defend it.

Nobody said that this was going to be a walk in the park as well seeing their core of playmakers leaving and now for the Cheesmaster in Manager Caleb Porters trying to work his magic in his newly formatted initial eleven.

Very well trying to plug and substitute successfully players of the likes of left back Jorge VillafaƱa, considered an excellent playmaker both offensively and defensively and now newcomers in Zarek Valentin and Chris Klute seeking the starting role.

Another significant arrival was in defensive Jermaine Taylor, forward Jack Mc Inerney, midfielder Ned Grabavoy and recently announced Premiership export in Leicester City Jack Barmby to cover the wing.

The PTFC is looking somewhat mighty as its slogan states!

Add to a returning defensive backfield in Liam Ridgewell, Nat Borchers, Alvas Powell and the left disputed by newcomers Klute and Valentin, the Timbers left side of its backfield will be one competed spot.

The midfield with Diego Valeri, Diego Chara and Dalrington Nagbe as the returning veterans and with Ned Grabavoy experience along with its newcomer push in Jack Barmby, this squad is ready for everything.
Still for the PTFC looking back in 2016 and looking back into one area they lacked was their definition or lack of opportune scoring and consistency in their offense- that at the end they silenced many of its detractors.
The Portland squad is outraged and with a Lucas Melano up and ready to show off his experience along with Fanendo Adi overall scoring leader with 16 goals and the additons of Mc Innerney and rookies Polk and Seaton.

This squad adding their newcomers to their experienced lineup, once again this squad is poised for the ultimate of challenges and ready to take over Major League Soccer and maybe making a run for several shields.

On the other hand, this squad can net a treble or more of campaigns as well deliver a magnificent campaign with one of kind performances worthy of a champion of a squad as well defending their hard-earned Shield.

At the end, the Portland Timbers will be one of the favorites and hard squad to defeat in this edition of Major League Soccer that will start as one contested edition and its champions all around salute.
