Lately the way
defending champions Leicester City are playing, you would guest that in this
match against almighty Manchester City in week 15, it was going to be a field
day for the visiting Citizens.
With a series of
eye-catching headlines, the Foxes are netting lately, for Rainieri Boys the
need of netting a win and especially against a foe of the caliber of the Etihad
chaps.
With a barrage of
much negative press to the defending champion’s slump and the irony of
defending their hard won championship, now they are looking to stay afloat in
the ranks of Premiership, by nearing the infamous relegation spots.
The way Manager
Rainieri before his trip to Portugal, the way he left many of his starters
behind, this was a decision that backfires for the Italians detractors and with
the results already mentioned, the critics did not stop crucifying him.

One example was Jamie
Vardy not being so accurate and without scoring a single goal in sixteen games
that was something to put his Boss in a dire situation, very another man in his
attack Riyad Mahrez not being as spectacular and productive as last campaign.
It was a sort of pressure
mounting for Manager Rainieri and affecting this club performance in the pitch.
Especially in one of
the world’s most difficult and contested leagues in the world, the English Premier
League accustomed ot see its traditional clubs always repeating as champions,
this past edition was a different story.
Three minutes took
the Leicester Boys and its striker Jamie Vardy to open up the score via a nice
paly that beat the Sky Blues keeper Claudio Bravo for the opening lead,
followed by a rifle of a shoot outside the area by Andy King in the fifth
minute.
The second half once
again saw a Leicester City in the hunt and taking advantage of the push from the
visiting Sky Blues looking forward to create opportunities and when these
arrived, luck was the best ally of the Foxes.
As it hit again when once
again Jamie Vardy made himself present when a bad John Stones back pass to his goalie
turned bad and the Blues striker sentence the match to a 4-0 lead.
Not bad for the
locals and its Manager Claudio Rainieri when his squad was in total control
until the visitors Aleksandar Kolarov on a free kick rescue the honor a little
too late, still his damage done.
At the end, this is
not a picnic or as easy as it looked for Pep Guardiola, as his Premiership
experience is looking very challenging and today's lost at King Power Stadium against
a squad having all sorts of problems, exposes this squad Achilles heel.
Defense wins games
and for the Sky Blues these lacked lots of it, and the City boys had their momentum
until the end of the game when these were running out of gas but time came to their
rescue and the game was over.
The City Derby became
a one sided when Leicester City revived and demonstrated their mettle of why
they were last edition champions, with lots of merit, is this the end of their
downfall?
