New season under way, accompanied by a series of challenges, as skipper Caleb Porter looks ahead for a repeat of his first campaign accomplishments.
With a very challenging campaign and Western Conference squads armed by the teeth specially its north of the border Cascadia foes, Vancouver Whitecaps.
The Rose City squad will really have its hands full, in what many have dubbed this campaign, as one of the most contested and a struggle for the finish.
Battles will be fought as well every point in every match, being a test of nerves and courage for the Green and White in this 2014.
Although many squads reinforced its spots- the Portland Timbers front men really took care of business in reinforcing its frontal and back attack with a couple of top of the line and experimented Argentinians.
This will addressed some of the inconsistencies the Timbers had in the field, still remember 34 matches in play as well an international contest in CONCACHAMPIONS League debut- can raise some concern for some of its players not accustomed to these type of competitions as well a more aggressive football.
Raising the questions of injuries and possible suspensions is something Manager Caleb Porter will give him a full responsibility as well a brain twister in his upcoming lineup ahead of his compromises.
Still Porter ball is up and running with a frontal attack dubbed by yours very truly as the Albicleste one with second year forward Max Urruti and newcomer man of thousand battles Gaston Fernandez who really knows MLS play in his years in the Mexican League.
Also by reinforcing its central attack with another Andean great in Norberto Paparatto alongside Michael Harrington, Pa Modouh Ka and crowd favorite Timber great Jack Jewsbury- making a solid wall for any MLS and CCL forwards.
Complimented by a state of the art Midfield in superstar Diego Valeri, Diego Chara and Captain Will Johnson as one of the most creative midfields in all of MLS, being that a fact!
As the return to the posts, of Reggae Boy Jamaican great Donovan Ricketts- this club is up in arms to take off any challenge ahead this 2014.
At the end, this squad has become a role model in support from its one of a kind followers and groups as the Timbers Green Army- as one of the most supportive, loyal and spirited.
The Portland Timbers are an Armada not to mess with as well serious contenders for not one but several shields in play as the always coveted Major League Soccer Trophy and the always distinct Supporters Shield.
Rose City will have its hands full in a challenge well meet and even with the possibilities of winning the Treble, with the addition of the CCL trophy and being CONCACAF’S representative in the World Cup of Clubs, why not!
If I Root, I Root for the Timbers!
