After assembling in the
preseason an all-around contender, TFC really showed off its mettle, coming
into this 2014 edition of Major League Soccer.
This north of the border
squad really showed off in the preseason, making an all-around armada not to
mess with in this edition of league play.
Having Seattle
Century Link and its hardened Sounders as their first test of the season,
Toronto star studded roster, was to be on trial throughout the match.
Unfortunately for the
home squad, today’s match wasn’t a stroll in the park and was ridiculed if not
given a lesson-for more than sixty minutes, which TFC really held its hosts game
at bay.
With a Michael
Bradley controlling the midfield and Captain Steven Caldwell really defending over zealously the posts defended by another superstar goalkeeper in Julio Cesar;
talking about investments that really delivered in the field.
It’s when the man of
the hour and former Tottenham Spur Jermaine Defoe really showed off his Premiership
skills, by scoring twice in the 16th and 23rd minutes respectively,
making the Sounders defensive side clueless and incapable during the majority
of the match.
Oh yes, all the eyes
in Major League Soccer were focused in today’s match and especially the Toronto
lads and its Manager Ryan Nelsen that still has to make some corrections in its
initial eleven, mostly at the end of every match.
By allowing the only
score of the match by a nice goal by sounders superstar Clint Dempsey in the 68th
minute- really put in evidence that TFC has a weak side when its chaps are
somehow tired and not to allow pressure to get into them if they want to be in
the top positions.
For now the always
Canadian Amway Cup contested by Canadian squads, makes the Toronto lads as
heavy favorites to repeat as well heavy favorites in competitions as the Lamar
Hunt Trophy, Supporters Shield and Major League Shield to adorn the halls of
BMO Field.
Still we have thirty
three matches left in the campaign and with all around challenges in TFC
Eastern Division and rivalries with their interstate foes in the New York Red
Bulls and I-99 blokes in the Montreal Impact.
A campaign that
promises a lot of emotions and possibly an incursion into the league postseason,
is what the TFC front office wishes, still there’s a lot of challenges ahead
and a roster to maintain in optimum conditions sans injuries.
Something that can
prove difficult and challenging for Toronto’s Manager and new star studded initial
elven- time will tell if this club id the right moves and its rewards after this
edition of Major League Soccer is over, good Luck Reds.
