A Competed Cascadia Derby

With a beautiful background in Portland’s Providence Stadium, today’s match dubbed as the Cascadia Derby or Classic, which always showed off an all-around competitiveness between these two squads. 

Since making their debuts in Major League Soccer, the levels of rivalry between the Portland Timbers and the Seattle Sounders has escalated from the field all the way to the stands- showing of a huge display in support with chants along colorful banners from both fans.

As this Derby between these two Pacific Northwest titans, went under way, I couldn’t believe my eyes of the football level displayed in the field.

I felt today like I was witnessing a European match, displayed in both squads along its excess of technique and a grand spectacle, like those seen in matches of the Old Continent!

As this edition of Major League Soccer, it looks like it will really be a one tough and driven campaign in all of its nineteen squads, looking for the ultimate glory.

Very well in this Derby was the host Timbers going on and receiving an ambitious Seattle Sounders determined to win this edition of the Cascadia Derby.

Still three points were in play as both squads, as they were really looking to win this event, along earn them bragging rights to their followers as well a certain importance or hegemony in this competition.

Leveled and competed was this match were none of the gladiators in the field, gave up an inch of ground to a final score being a tie, very  well a fest of goals seen by the 20,000 screaming fans. 

Being the visiting Sounders opening the cartons, still the Timbers managed to tie the match, being this a show of force between these two squads determined to put everything in the field as well earned them an ultimate honor.

Not today as the Timbers once had a magnificent reaction with a couple of scores, which at the end wasn’t sufficient for them, after witnessing a furious reaction from the visiting Seattleites for the final score of 4 goals each.

Impressive indeed, was this clash of great crews determined to give it all as well delight the enthusiast’s present, which never gave up hope and stopped supporting their respective squads.

At the end this event finished and it’s in the books as a tie and with the next match at Century Link between these two giants of Cascadia, as many have labeled it as the I-5 rivalry, evidently their next encounter will put more eagerness in both of these great squads.
