An amazing Spurs breakthrough in Moscow

For Mauricio Pochettino seeing his squad getting upset in its first Champions match over a surprising AS Monaco squad, the Spurs odds of netting their first win in this event were from zero to none.

Seeded in Group E, the Tottenham Spurs are in company of not so easy foes, and especially when you venture into Mother Russia and play one of its iconic squads, that you not only facing its initial eleven but its whole fan base.

Going against a resilient and tough CSKA Moscow, considered as a one serious squad, on the Spurs destinies and its difficult CSKA Arena, the heat was on for the Hotspurs.

To dare is to do, as a club motto states, and these hardened Lilywhites played a one of a kind match and always-generating top class plays that put in peril the arches defended by Captain Igor Akinfeev, who saw his share of attacks all afternoon long.

For Manager Pochettino this became a game of strategies and very well the Andean delivered and with his all-around accuracy, to show off why he is poised for many important things with his club.

After leaving Kyle Walker, Eric Dier, Moussa Dembele and Moussa Sissoko back home to net a worthy rest, ahead of their clash this coming weekend against a hot streaked Manchester City, Poche made his moves in his initial eleven.

By playing with a conservative 4-2-3-1 formation, sending Vincent Janssen as the lone forward accompanied by a dynamic trio of Erick Lamela, Christian Eriksen and  Son Heung- Min.

As the lone two in the middle were Victor Wanyama and Dele Alli these two being the main orchestrators of the attack and responsible of being a wall and accompanied the backfield in giving their keeper Hugo Lloris a serene afternoon.

However, the Koni or Horses of CSKA, sporting the same formation as the Londoners, suddenly started making their moves and putting a sort of pressure into Lloris and despite the constant arrivals by the Russians, the Frenchman prevailed.

Still for the English side with a determined Erick Lamela and Dele Alli causing all sorts of havoc into the Russians posts and despite the pressure, still no cigar for the visitors of marking their first goal, although the opportunities have been there and insistence especially by Lamela.

No matter what the next match brings to the Spurs, these were on the need of a win and tonight the efforts of the London Boys paid off in the 71th minute, when an opportune Son getting behind the hosts defense.

As the Korean national putting a shoot despite the efforts of CSKA goalie Akinfeev and putting a hand on the ball, still the ball took a slow and lucky roll passing the line in what became the winning goals of the match for the Spurs.

All of these thanks to an opportune and consistent Son Heun- Min, considered at the end the absolute hero of the match, once again delivering in these types of competitions, and not letting down his Manager Mauricio Pochettino call.

At the end, the Tottenham Spurs squad with this win situates them in second place with three points and one behind As Monaco with four after their draw against Bayern 04 Leverkusen and putting things red hot in Group E. Plus a game pending against the German side that definitely will decide the Spurs outcome into the next stages.
