I mean a serious one,
especially if they cannot perform as they do at home, were they have shown some
invincibility over its foes, but when it comes to play on the road, the
Portland Boys are seeing the blues match after match.
As this campaign, the
PTFC has been the only squad in league play that has not posted a win on the
road, and showing off a not so decorous record of 0-9-6.
This is something to
be concerned, after the Rose City squad currently being above the red line for
the postseason and with last week win over Philadelphia at Providence Park.
They leapfrogged the SKC squad, to claim and move into fifth place.
On this weekend, the
Timbers experienced a different story, when they came to Houston and posing an
all-around momentum of beating a tough foe in the Union and coming to play the
Dynamo so far submerged in last place of the Western Division.
For the squad of the
Lone Star State, being out of contention for the league postseason, the role
taken so far by the Houston squad is just to salvage their last games in this
campaign with notable wins and play the always-annoying role of a spoiler.
Nothing to lose for
the Dynamo Boys in these stages of league play, whomever they play, and their
sole aim is to derail and rot the drive of any of the squads they face, mainly
the ones involved in the postseason race.
Coming into Houston,
the PTFC aims were to edge their first win of the campaign, very well after
beating the Dynamo at home in a very contested match to a 3-2 final score.
The problem was that
the PTFC understated their competition.
When squads come to BBVA
Stadium, and despite the Orangemen low profile campaign, still these Boys can
play a tough and mean ball. As their new man at the helm, who lately has
injected some passion and enthusiasm to the Texas squad and prevailed in their
latest matches with a series of positive results.
Houston has played
with all around pride and spirit, the visiting Portland squad played the
opposite and seeing a meltdown once again in its initial eleven and beaten by
an inspired Dynamo.
For the Timbers
Manager Caleb Porter seeking answers to many questions of how, if and what will
he have to do to turn his squad around, if at the last minute things go from
bad to worst and lose what his squad fought for all campaign of being above the
red line.
Not fair, if
everything crumbles at the end, because of a group of individuals not caring or
putting on their best of efforts together, especially when their pass into the
grand fete is just a few matches away and can be loss with a blink of an eye.
If we examine the
takeaways in five, ten, or twenty steps, what difference will it make at its
end, the solution in on that initial eleven put on the field by Manager Porter
who has been a total saint and despite the disappointment, and he still goes
strong.
A problem indeed, is
what the PTFC is going through but it can generate solutions in the short term,
erase the negatives, and put on a show of a game in their upcoming compromises
call them league or CCL.
At the end no problem
here as this squad is poised, for much higher and important ventures to come
and one thing for sure they will prevail, despite the oddities out there, this
squad is a true fighter.
