After netting an important
twin at home over the Boys of Galway United, the Hoops are back to their winning
ways and at the same time, catapulting to third place, in what seems to be a
very heated race for the last European spot.
With this win, the Hoops
move ahead in the league table ahead of the Candystripes of Derry City, by just
one point, as the Dublin Boys displacing this squad that at the end, it promises
us to see a much-disputed contest between these two squads.
The league seeing its
last matches and a campaign coming to its end, the prospects of seeing a tight
race between Derry City and Shamrock Rovers is something no be discarded till
its end!
Still in tonight’s match the Shamrock Rovers initial,
eleven sent by its Manager Stephen Bradley finally struck gold and three points
with a win that puts the race for the last European spot into frenzy.
As the Hoops taking advantage
of their condition of local, in its final stretch of league play, many squads
start playing as they were playing like a final, as the Galway United Tribesmen
situated on ninth place.
For the Rovers Manager
seeing the intentions of their foes, he did not wanted to take any chances of losing
this match and seeing their chances going up in smoke, as the Hoops Boss
Bradley sent his arsenal to front a storm in the visiting Tribesmen.
This was a much-disputed
match in its entirety, with all of the ninety minutes played, each squad did
not wanted to surrender any inch toward its foes, but at the end, and the home
squad prevailing and netting a valuable and spectacular win.
With Mother Nature playing
the role of spoiler in this match first half as the windy conditions became a somehow
of an annoyance for both squads, but calming itself down later on the match. The Hoops through its striker Sean Boyd, who
had a gem of a match, opened the score in the 22nd minute to give
the Hops a 1-0 lead.
As the match
continued a struggle between both squads, it’s when the visiting side through
their Captain Ryan Connolly who had a double set of goals, he became the author
of his squad first goal in the 31st minute for the 1-1 score.
The Hoops motivated
by its legion of followers and their persistence paid, when their goalkeeper
Sam Ramsbottom mishandling a shoot of Rovers Gary McCabe, put the ball on his
own goal, putting the home squad on the lead of 2-1 on the 35th
minute.
With the game resuming
the second half saw a display of opportunities for both squads, still on the 58th
minute it is when the match became even with another amazing play from the
Tribesmen Captain Ryan Connolly once again putting the cartons even.
Once again, the
Shamrock Boys went on the attack and by listening carefully to their managers
instructions, suddenly the tide turn in their favor after scoring the
tiebreaker via Shane Heaney on the 62nd minute and two minutes later
Gary McAbe scoring the go-ahead goal.
That gave the
Shamrock Rovers a valuable and meritorious win over the Galway Boys as well
moving up the league table and for now staying put on third place for now and
await their next meeting on September 27 against Derry City.
For now, the Hoops
displayed a one of a kind match from its defensive backfield as well its midfield
core that made a whole lot of difference in this match and at the end with lots
of excellent results speak for themselves.
Considered as an important
date with destiny, as whoever wins this match will be in the driver’s seat of third
place as well marching towards assuring the last spot for Europe, something that
the Hoops Manager is keen of delivering this last spot to Tallaght.
