An amazing streak for those Dundalk Boys

Sligo Rovers 0, Dundalk FC 2
The Showgrounds, Sligo
Just keep winning baby, the right motto these hardened and unstoppable De Town Boys are displaying in league play with a run with perfection from their return after their European adventure.

Now that is a part of the past and for manager Stephen Kenny is back to business and looking forward to a notable close of this campaign that despite its competitiveness and contested as it loos, the iam is to return to their rightful place.

After last campaign after a couple of its top rated players leaving for English Championship side Preston North End, the dilemma manager Kenny faced to plug those holes seen as a total challenge as he saw his squad not so successful defense of its title. Still the Lilywhites manage to finish in second place and despite a late recovery in the end but Cork City already amassed a comfortable lead to win the league shield.

As the preseason started, manager Kenny and its new American based owners went on the task of getting important players and reinforcing his side to step up a new style of competition and claim where they left in the top.

With ten wins in succession and on the road this is considered like an all-around feat and the Lilywhites are looking forward to escalate their lead after a persistent and bugging Cork City once leading the top now they behind in the overall table by three points.

After their win this past Friday against Bray Wanderers in Carlisle Grounds, now their recent achievement in the Showgrounds taking the likes of the Bit O’ Red with a clean sheet and a notable win despite having a couple of matches pending.

For Gary Rogers netting clean sheets after another this veteran of many uncountable battles so far is consolidating as a top rated goalkeeper and I do not doubt of being among the top of his class in league circles after his amazing performances.

With back-to-back wins in the past four days, this Dundalk squad is serious of highlighting its powerful initial eleven and its striker in Patrick Hoban that if he continues with this scoring frenzy he can reach up to thirty goals if not more in the campaign.

As these fighting Lilywhites being for real and intelligent in their game call it offensively or defensively they do it right and taking advantage of the opposition blunders and today they did it with style with a couple of goals.

The first score came in the 30’ minute when Michael Duffy taking advantage of Sligo defender Kyle Callan- Mc Fadden lack of judgement opening the doors for Duffy to open the scoreboard in favor of the visiting side.

After halftime, once again, the visiting Dundalk Boys went looking for the go-ahead goal as the dominance of Kenny and company was very visible from start to finish, as in the 78’ minute came the cushion goal by a Duffy header well taken advantage by Patrick Hoban.

As the Dundalk striker with a scoring sense, he deliver the go ahead and game winning goal for his side and his side backfield coming strong to deny the local Rovers the opportunity to stage a late rally in the end.

With this win Dundalk leads Cork City by three points with 70 and getting ready for their August 28 match against The Shamrock Rovers at home in Oriel Park to keep the streak alive.
