Manchester City starts its title defense with a win at Emirates

Arsenal 0, Manchester City 2
Emirates Stadium, London

The time came for defending champions Manchester City to start the defense of their title with a tough trial in these parts of London Town. Opening day finally came for Pep Guardiola and company to play against a renovated Arsenal Gunners.

As the Unai Emery era to start in the colossus of Holloway in West London, the Gunners were ready to test the likes of the City side and with a more promising start looking for the win and those three points.

Still the likes of a foe like Pep’s Citizens is not just any squad to play one on one as manager Emery saw the reality of Premiership competition and its best with a determined and inspired Sky Blues that never backed down.

With both squads sporting a 4-2-3-1 formation sending a lone striker to spearhead their offensive game, Sergio Aguero became pure poison to the renewed defensive backfield of the local Gunners, making the best in his game displays.

In addition of Emery sending Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang to start mayhem in the Citizens defense, for the second year lad Gabon native little did his intents delivered any threats to the arches defensed successfully by Ederson.

As the stats clearly saw the dominance of the champions with a total of 8 shoots total 3 of the locals not being able to display their game these are comfortable doing, the possession taken by Pep Side was fair for his side to net the win.

The likes of Raheem Sterling opening the score for Man City in the 14’ minute came after a foul and later his shoot hitting gold, beating the likes of veteran Petr Cech to open the scoreboard, and uplifting this squad confidence in the remainder of the match.

This was not over yet for the visiting Citizens at any cost looking forward to extend their lead and fighting a poised and determined too Arsenal side looking at any cost to start something in their backfield.

With some arrivals by Hector Bellerin and later a clear opening but not fulfilled by Alexandre Lacazette seeing his shoot going wide and that was the near damage intents the Gunners had all afternoon long. Defenivly the locasl held their ground and with their posts falling twice, still I credit Cech with several game saving plays.

In the end, he succumbed to a grand play that the Sky Blues put in display as the man of the hour Benjamin Mendy putting a center in front of a well-placed David Silva for the Spaniard to kick with such spectacular fashion to score the second goal.

Leaving a defensive display put in by the Manchester lads and holds on the win after their score in the 14’ and 64’ minutes lifted their side to the win and starting with the right foot in what promises to be a very contested campaign.

Coming once again as heavily favorites to win the league shield again but the pressure mounts on if they can win this time the grand Champion League trophy of just missing from the halls of Etihad.
