Is this chap for real
or he is looking forward to a stellar campaign with his Rebel Army chaps and claim
what has been denied by three time league champions Dundalk FC.
For John Caulfield,
the City Boss seeing his side playing with lots of determination in this new
edition of the League of Ireland and his initial eleven showing an all-around
ambition and game.
Despite this
association being in its early stages, we are looking into a total contender in
the City chaps, the question is for how long will they hold in the top were
they hold a comfortable three point lead over their arch rivals, the
Lilywhites.
As we are to brace
for our first ever Derby between Cork City and Dundalk scheduled at Turners
Cross and considered a very exciting and disputed match between these two
titans.
With three league
shields won consecutively by the Dundalk bunch, the Rebel Army has beaten the
league champions in the FAI and Presidents Cups competitions.
Making it a little
even, still the desires of a league shield are one thing that Manager John
Caulfield is looking forward but without getting an obsession for it.
In addition, for the
defending champions Boss Stephen Kenny, this is serious business and he is
looking forward to a disputed match at the colossus of Curragh Road in Cork
City to get even for the past defeats as well cut their overall lead.
Still for the City
chaps so far winning all of their first five matches in a row and playing an
aggressive and one of a kind football as local or visitor, this campaign we are
looking into a hungry bunch.
One of them by forgetting
last campaign, after disastrous results that came when the Rebel Army needed
the most and possibly catch up with the league leaders, these let the opportunity
go and at the end they finish in second place overall.
So far with wins over
Finn Harps, Galway United, Drogheda United, Sligo Rovers and recently the
Shamrock Rovers.
Unbelievable is the way
to describe the current streak and campaign, Cork City is showing off and with their
next match considered as a sort of Derby next week, this will be their first
test of the newly started season.
Despite the odd schedule
the league of Ireland is putting to its squads, the City Boys have overcome the
odds and making a positive run and displaying a good game.
Their next match against
the defending league champions and playing at home in front of their faithful
will be enough to get a decent result that can uplift this group and with a
more comfortable lead in the top of the table.
Not only in the top
of the league are the City chaps situated but in the overall scoring with Sean
Maguire in the lead with six goals after his last match double that gave his
side a valuable win as an away squad over the always hardened and difficult
Hoops.
At the end, with a
league in its initial start, the new City squad after getting new faces to
reinforce its side and with its current roster, they are poised to make a one
of a kind run in this campaign for the league shield.
Still for Cork City Manager
john Caulfield, with plenty of time and work ahead in this campaign, he knows
of the upcoming obstacles and uphill battles his bunch will be against, if they
want to continue being in the top of the league.
For now the double of
Maguire really solidifies Cork City in first place and with a minimum lead over
Dundalk FC and Derry City these two trailing by just three points, this affair
can be for anybody.
