Coleraine playing a wondrous and unthinkable campaign

Oren Kearney is one happy man as in the Bannsiders helm after his squad is making all sorts of headlines in this edition of the Danske Bank Premiership League of North Ireland.

As last campaign, he saw his squad struggle to keep up with the likes of Crusaders and Linfield.

This edition is all the contrary to last campaign already put to rest and now after eighteen matches, the Bannsiders are keeping a comfortable lead at the top of the NIFL table with  45 points and a six ahead of their closest chasers Crusaders.

So far making a surprising move situating itself in first place in the overall table and soldiyfiyng themselves in first place after a meritorious and convincing win at home over a struggling Carrick Rangers FC.

By defeating, the Amber Army, these juggling a few problems of their own could not keep up with the enthusiasm and hunger the locals showed off in their match at the Showgrounds, displaying a one of a kind game of football.

As this young Coleraine squad did put on a show of mastery and its authority by opening the score, three minutes in the game Ciaron Harkin via a nice pass from James McGonigle, these opened the ball.

Still the visiting Gers did not came to these parts of Londonberry for a pass from the local Blue and White Army that for nothing these are playing a one of a kind football that by far has put them in the league top.

In the minute 12, the visiting Carrick Boys put themselves in the scoreboard via a free kick from Mark Edgar that later in the match almost put the visitors in the scoreboard but it is when the Coleraine backfield stepped up and prevented the Gers any more liberties.

With the game official awarding extra time before the first half ended, it came in the 48 when Coleraine Bradley Lyons headed the go-ahead goal before intermission and taking a 2-1 lead.

No later the second half started when  Jamie McGonigle put the final and insurance goal past the posts of Harry Doherty  in the 72 minute sentencing the match in favor of the locals to a 3-1 final score and stay put in the overall tale.

This win is number fourteen with three draws and a loss for the Bannsiders and with next week matches scheduled at the Showgrounds against Dungannon Swifts and coming with the label of all around favorites.

For the Carrick Rangers this is their twelve-match loss of the campaign and for their manager David McAlinden is back to the drawing board in how he can stop his squad modest campaign and see a recovery to uplift his team away from the relegation spots.

For Kearney and company next week match despite the easiness this compromise looks, his main goals if he would like to see his squad lift at the end of this young campaign the league shield.

The way Coleraine success in the remainder of this campaign will be of playing their foes with respect and much needed alertness in order to persevere and complete a banner of a campaign not foreseen by anyone in league circles.
