A new era in Rose City under Gio Savarese

Welcome to Rose City Señor Savarese, after all you are inheriting a winner from our previous manager that left an all-around contender and your job will be to see a continuance of his legacy, something not to difficult for you.

After all, you come with a very impressive CV and loads of new ideas to inject into this amazing club known for its game and especially its one of kind fans that uplifts this squad spirits when these play at home.

Still you come from a grand squad that in the seventies saw many luminaries parade in its initial eleven in the likes of Pele, Chinaglia, Carlos Alberto and Franz Beckenbauer and in your time, you manage the likes of former Merenge great Raul.

Still this is a new challenge to manage in Major League Soccer and despite this association as the Premier division in American soccer and the North American Soccer League that is not too far behind in its levels with MLS.

After all this man comes with a high referential as an intelligent and attack minded manager.
For Savarese coming to Portland he will have a squad in Timbers T2 to work with and oversee the developing of future stars.

As the big squad is in need of manager with a vision and full development of new talent through its academies.

By combining experience with youth, he can develop a true contender in this game elevating into one of the most resilient and fiercest in the whole league as his arrival as the third manager in Portland Timbers MLS history.

This man can turn things around, for the better and with much more excitement in the field and seeking a consistent display of good football in every match these play at home or away, the name of the game will be seeing an all-around winner in the field.

This man accomplishment as a player and one of the most winningest managers in the new NASL from a total of 145 games with a record of 71 wins 44 draws and 30 losses, impressive you bet!

Very well, he knows the meaning of winning with a couple of Soccer Bowls won in 2013 and 2016, and runner up in 2017, and three NASL regular season titles 2013 Spring, 2015 Spring and 2016 Fall, impressive record.

At the end, Giovanni Savarese comes loaded with a lot of illusions and looking forward to his new challenge with his Portland Timbers, as he would like to make an instant impact, build this squad character, and upgrade his levels of confidence for the best.

The question arises if he would bring some of his notable players he had in the Cosmos, of the likes of defenders, Carlos Mendes, Dejan Jakovic, Jimmy Muligan or Ayoze or the likes of strikers Emmanuel Ledesma or Eugene Starikov?

Some of these players were vital in his winning years back in New York.

Anyway, this is it, I cannot wait for the new campaign to start and see the new man the helm of the Portland Timbers, and how will they fare under the direction of Savarese in its helm and a man that comes with a positive feedback from many experts of the game.

His big test will come on the road against the LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls before coming home and face at Providence Stadium the likes of the Minnesota United Loons.

Hail to the new era in Rose City, looking forward to see in this 2018 for the Mighty PTFC!
