Coleraine setting the tone in the NIFL

After delivering, a grand win this past weekend playing at home in the Showgrounds, by beating a hardened Dungannon Swifts for the minimum difference of one goal to gain three valuable points.

This win extends their lead over their closest chasers Crusaders FC with six points lead.

Kudos to game hero Darren McCauley with a nice shoot in the 35 minute, by beating the likes of Swifts keeper Stuart Addis, with this play that at the end became the difference maker.

Despite the lone goal from McCauley, the hero of the match and top performer should be the Coleraine defense, especially its keeper Chris Johns who made all sorts of saves all afternoon long from an inspired Swifts attack.

Knowledgeable and determined are the exact words to describe a hopeful student squad as the nickname fits very well the likes of this Londonberry based squad.

With a match in the weekend against Ballinallard away will be a test of fire for the Bannsiders.

For Coleraine manager Oran Kearney he is taking it easy and calmly in every match his squad plays as he would not like to surrendered the top to the likes of the Crusaders, Glenavon and Cliftonville.

Still with a lone goal in the Blue and Whites had a number of opportunities with Jamie McGonigle, Ian Parkhill, Brad Lyons, Josh Carson and Darren McAuley the captain that after his tenth goal of the campaign.

He looked for several opportunities to extend the score for the home side and a defensive Addis prevented them to get the go-ahead scores with several saves and his defense stepping up.

However, give Bannsiders goalie the credit for stepping up a formidable second half with several attempts the visiting side had and the number of would be goals he stopped for the disbelief of the Swifts manager Rodney McAree.

At the end, Coleraine is leading the pack and with back-to-back wins, these are assuring themselves in first place, and with three months to go before the league ends, manager Oran Kearney being aware of nothing served in a silver platter.

He is pushing for results in every match and despite their position in the top he and his bunch are doing the job one match at a time, what will happen at the end we are about to see in the final weeks of the NIFL.
