Despite the adversity, these Potters are putting on a fight

For Mark Hughes entering in his fourth year at the helm of the Stoke City Potters and being always in the center of the storm with his squad lack of consistency especially in this campaign series of odd results posted.

Two days ago, they put on their best galas, by displaying a one of a kind football these put the visiting Swansea Swans in the bottom of the table and making it a sure candidate for relegation.

After netting their first, win since October 28 over a resilient and surprising Watford Hornets.

The Potters finally put on a display with a serious initial eleven playing a bit inspired with the support of its faithful at Bet 365 Stadium to deliver a much needed win and keep adding points to keep a safe distance from the last three spots of relegation.

To a near sold out in former Britannia Stadium, Hughes initial eleven raised to the occasion and put their guest in place with a 2-1 win, adding more pressure to the Swansea manager tenure.

After the visiting Swans opened the score with an early goal from Wilfred Bony on minute three, these became a bit of unpleasant for the local Stoke Boys after surrendering the first score with just minutes played in the game.

As this star plagued squad finally got the urge of playing decent football and delivering an important win that can serve as a confidence booster for their next week compromise against a struggling Tottenham.

Still the way Hughes strategies played an important role in today’s match by sending a 3-4-3 formation sending an attacking core of Xerdan Shaqiri, Peter Crouch and Eric Maxim Choupo- Moting.

Contrary to Paul Clement Swansea with a bizarre but maybe bold 4-1-2-1-2 with Tommy Abraham and Wilfred Bony in the attacking core, the latter one did put the Stoke defensive backfield in sheer anguish after his early goal.

That became a revelation for the Potter’s initial eleven as suddenly these turned the tables for the better in the remainder of this match and the end the positive result spoke wonders for Mark Hughes and company.

With the equalizer came a one two punch in Joe Allen and Xherdan Shaqiri when the former Liverpool man passed the ball for the Swiss to push and put the game even and seeing an all-around revival from the locals.

No later Peter Crouch the veteran put his squad ahead with assistance to Mame Biram Douf in the 40 minute to put this game away and never looking back or allowing the Swans to become comfortable in the game these are to display.

For the locals defense becoming stingy and overzealous in protecting the posts defended by Jack Butland, as their perseverance became their success to deliver three points of gold and maintain a close chase to be among the top ten spots.

One thing this win comes with a price for the Potters as they lose defender Bruno Martins Ini, still a win is a win and breaking their winless streak of matches not seeing a positive outcome.

So far their current position in thirteenth place and 16 points, with this win they are looking to level their campaign and start looking for more notable results and try to make a climb to the top of the overall table.
