Ever since Big Sam
has come to these parts of Walton, Liverpool, we have an awakening in these
Toffees playing a renewed game of football and with the elements necessary to
put on a fight at the end of this campaign.
This was a campaign
that this squad top brass spent all of the monies this club got after the sale
of Romelu Lukaku and a few pounds more invested to build an all-around
contender.
Unfortunately, we are
all aware of the collapse this club had and suddenly it got out of their former
manager Ronnie Koeman grasps to display a sorry state of football that almost
got this squads in the relegation spots.
Despite the energy
and illusions of making a big splash in the big team, for former Blue great
David Unsworth to prove his readiness, at the end this club decided to bring
the likes of a savior and this was Big Sam Allardyce.
A man that has an all-around
reputation of a football wizard just came out of Hogwarts for his magic he injects
and transformations in every troubled club he inherits, all of a sudden, this
club has turned into a respectable entity and stop being a sorry one.
Very well, one that
is displaying a sudden notch in its game from all of its top guns, this club is
show its readiness to compete and let down many that predicted his success in
the beginning of this edition of Premiership.
With a simply
statement, they’re back and running and with today's win, Everton is situated in
ninth place with 25 points and netting a whopping 13 points out of 15 in play and
catapulting above the top ten spots in the overall table.
Still playing against
the Swans this Welsh establishment fighting for its survival and being in the
bottom of the table, these came determined to play like dragons in these parts
of Merseyside and net a favorable result as a boost of confidence.
Despite the early
parts of the first half as Sigurdsson stated in his post-match interview, that
they lack initiative and energy in the beginning minutes of the match, very
well seeing how a defiant Swans eleven making all sorts of intents to beat the
posts of Jordan Pickford.
The Toffees we can
state their aggressiveness in its backfield and stinginess disallowed shortly
the push of Clement and company put in display throughout the course of the match,
when an opportune Leroy Fer opened up the score.
As minute 35 in the
clock officially marked the Swans, early lead with a Tom Carroll corner that
Fer converted, and the efforts shown by the Swans strikers in Carroll foiled
free kick and later on another hitting the post.
With the clock winding
down the end of the first half, came an Everton counter inside the area when a foul
by Swansea Roque Mesa over Aaron Lennon the official doid not heisted to award
the penalty.
As Wayne Rooney shoot
touched by Swans keeper Lucas Fabiansky and hitting the posts with the rebound that
came to the feet miraculously of Dominick Calvert- Lewin converting it and
sending the game into halftime with a tie.
The second half saw a
different Everton game with more audacity and character from all of its elements
in the field and with a beautiful shoot by Gylfy Sigurdsson to make it 2-1 in the
64 minute, a goal considered an absolute delight.
Eleven minutes passed
and the frustration seen by the Swans defenders overwhelmed by a dynamic Toffees
attacking core, the unthinkable for the Swans came when another foul in what
was a sort of controversial play, suddenly the official awarded another penalty
for the locals.
As Swans defender, Martin
Olsson fouled Jonjo Kenny and opened the opportunity for Wayne Rooney to redeem
himself after his failed try earlier and this time converted the comfort goal
in a 3-1 rout.
Giving them a five
run unbeaten streak and with a crucial and important game at London’s colossus of
Fulham Stamford Bridge with a test of fire and all around challenge of facing
the defending champions Chelsea, their positive streak is on the line.
