In the League of Ireland, recap The Hoops settling in first


The League of Ireland is becoming one contested association with the defending champions Dundalk keeping a close chase over the current league leaders the Shamrock Rovers keeping a four-point lead at the top. 

With a long ways to go for the Hoops how long will they keep at the top of the table, another highlight for this weekend was the Leesiders win over the Bohs and the Blues back in the winning column.
 
Back in Tallaght in Dublin, the local Shamrock Rovers delighted their followers with a resounding win over the visiting Sligo Rovers struggling to get in the plus side for their manager Liam Buckley. 

For the Rovers with scores from Daniel Carr 39’ minute followed in the second with a couple from Ronan Finn 64’ and Jack Byrne 83’ were enough for the win and stay put in the league top.

In the RSC the local Waterford Boys came back to their winning ways after a number of odd results, still for manager Alan Reynolds side these delivered another loss to the Pats not seeing a break.

The scores came from a double from Aaron Drinan in the 19’ and 63’ to seal the win as well a clean sheet for the Blues and netting three points of gold. 

Waterford 2, Saint Patrick’s Athletic 0

In the UCD Bowl of Dublin, the local Students deliver joyfully their first win of the season to the Finn Harps and sentencing these to last place in the overall table, as both UCD and Finn Harps had a whopping nine yellow cards. 

For the Students the scorers were Timmy Molloy in the 63’ minute followed by a double from Richie O’ Farrell 71’ and 83’ to seal the win and leapfrog to ninth place and within three points of the Pats.

In Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium Derry City hosted, the defending champions Dundalk were coming to these parts of Derry City and facing a troublesome Candystripes squad looking to seize a notable win. 

However, The Town defense rose to the occasion and with scores from Sean Murray 37’ and Patrick Hoban gaining his scoring form and scoring the cushion goal in the 52’ minute for the win. 

Derry City 0, Dundalk 2

Back in Rebel Army territory- Turner’s Cross-, the local Rebel Army returned to its old winning form and with a valuable win over a new and hardened Bohemian side, the Leesiders are within a point of third place.

With scores from Conor McCarthy 23’ minute and Dan Casey 49’ minute to seal the deal in a day plagued with clean sheets in all five matches scheduled in the Airtricity League of Ireland.
