Despite the Sounders
making the feat and taking with them the first round of two, this does not
assures the Emerald City squad their automatic pass into the league finals.
After barely
defeating the Colorado Rapids squad by a mere 2-1 score, still this is not a
wrap for the Rave Greens that so far with ninety minutes separating them from
the Promised Land.
It don’t come easy
for the Emerald City squad, despite their revival in the last matches of the
campaign and reinforcing themselves with a gem of a player in Nicolas Lodeiro,
the heat will be on for them to defend that one goal lead.
Or extend it over
there at Dicks Sporting Goods Park at Aurora, Colorado, here they will not only
face a resilient and hardened Rapids initial eleven but a whole legion of followers
and battling Mother Nature in one of its elements, altitude.
Still the tale of the
tape shows a very even series and despite Colorado amazing campaign and the
Sounders struggles in it, but its amazing return to MLS prime-time for the Greens,
at the end made it an even series to decide is outcome at the Rocky Mountain
state.
I recall what a match
staged by these two titans at Century Link Park, where the local Sounders
decided it with an opportune goal by their new talisman man in Nicolas Lodeiro
who wears a number 10 and playing like one.
With several
opportunities for the Andean and one near goal that Seattle rookie sensation
Jordan Morris push for the equalizer in the nineteenth after that early
Colorado goal from Kevin Doyle in the thirteenth.
Amazing is the way to
describe a match very fought in every minute by both squads and disputed by
these, giving kudos to both of their defensive
backfields that shined to the occasion
and many could state that they indeed earned their pay.
Very well stellar performances
by both squads’ goalies as Stefan Frei with opportune skills shown at times
when his posts were in immediate danger, he looked as mature and secure to stop
the fire as well for Colorado’s Zac Mac Math doing the same until that penal.
A wondrous and exciting
first leg, being now in the books and despite the Sounders one goal advantage, but
they are aware of that goal against them and it is something they have to put
on a fierce fight to overcome the odds at Dicks Park.
For Colorado, it is an
opportunity to seal the deal having its whole fan base behind them and looking
forward to advance and play whoever is the winner of the East between the Montréal
and Toronto squads.
As both Schmetzer and
Mastroeni won’t care if their top rated starters are injured in Dempsey for
Seattle or Colorado’s Howard, these have the necessary talent to front in what
seems to be their ultimate of challenges from their careers.
A win for Colorado will
be their third, as for Seattle always left out of the championship game, in
case fortunes favor them, they will be making their first trip.
Still whoever wins it
from the West they are aware of their role of hosting the championship game.
At the end, nothing
for nobody but a game of strategies and moves that can tip the balance in favor
of anyone in the Western Conference, one thing in favor of Seattle its players
do not have a yellow card against them in comparison to three of Colorado’s.
Come Sunday these two
squads Bosses will be embroiled in looking for ways and the right strategies to
see which of their initial elevens delivers the final and decisive blow that
will give any of these squads their pass to the grand fete.
Seattle or Colorado
who will be the winner, as this series shows off an even event between both of
these squads and no favorites here, one dead even final!
