Is a Canadian showdown in the East?

It certainly looks that way, after both of its representatives took matter into their own hands and by winning their respective matches in the first leg of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

After both squads in this edition of Major League Soccer postseason, the Montreal Impact and the Toronto FC are looking forward to seal their deals and consume the feat to see an all-around Canadian contest.

This time is not in the hockey rink but in the soccer field and if becomes a reality this event between these titans, we might see a more contested 401 Derby between these two squad, looking forward to get the upper hand in their bragging rights.

So far, after neutralizing both New York squads and these displaying not so clean games in their past matches and being in trouble with some yellow cards and players missing, the outcome of making a run into the next stages can be in the side of the Canadians.

Still we have a second leg to play and with both the NYCFC and NY Red Bulls hosting their matches and seen as not vulnerable at home, the outcome of these matches will be a bit challenging for both Montréal and Toronto.

For Toronto Boss Greg Vanney despite his squad dominating in the first match of the semifinals, they have a comfortable two-goal lead but the challenge and pressure will rely in its defensive core to protect that goal differential.

Very well if he displays again his 3-5-2 formation will undoubtedly have a bit of success, still the NYCFC Boss will put his best guns in the field to counter that lead and live up to their labels of all around favorites.

The question lingers if he can pull an upset to the New York Boys, as the tale of the tape put both squads even with their arsenals in both of their initial elevens.

In the case of the Montreal Impact, Le Gars will have a tough time and a much challenging match back at Red Bull Arena when they face off against the New York Red Bulls, after all these already have a very heated rivalry in the field and stands.

As Le Gars Manager Mauro Biello not strange to the situations where his squad is in the hole and always prevails, he knows of the way Jesse Marsch squad puts on a ugly and physical display in his squad game.

For the Montreal squad hopefully in this match they can have all of its initial eleven ready and determined that this will be a game with all the essence of an all-around final and they must fight on to push for the league finals.

At the end what will be the outcome for both squads if this situation happen, if Montreal and Toronto face-off in the east finals, who will it win and gets the upper hand, after all they are playing two squads predicted by many experts as favorites.

For Major League Soccer this event if becomes a reality will be history in the making as for the first time two Canadian squads will be showing off in a conference final as well one of them will advance to its championship game.

Imagine if Vancouver Whitecaps would be in the league postseason and disputing the Western Conference finals and seeing a very Canadian final, it can happen one day.

For now it’s the US vs Canada with both of its representatives from the Big Apple playing as the American ambassadors and for the Canadians in the squads above mentioned, will the Yank’s rebound and win it all or the Canadians score an all-around upset!
