Score one for the
Boys of the Toronto FC, looking forward to continue making history, as their
win over all favorite NYCFC that in the eyes of many in MLS circles looked like
an easy one.
After that match that
ended 2-0 at BMO Field in favor of the local Reds, game two looked unfortunately to be like a sort of mission
impossible but not difficult for the north of the Border squad.
I mean history in the
making for Major League Soccer as for the first time we will have an
all-Canadian final in the Eastern Conference.
Moreover, the same
goes for both Toronto and the Montreal squads, who won their series, in what
looks like the 401 Derby but with a touch of an all-around final and whoever wins
it, not only win the series, but as well the always-celebrated bragging rights.
This time, the
competition is not a league play but it is the one and only postseason, as whoever
wins this series between Toronto and Montreal will be a one of a kind event,
with two titans going for all of the ultimate of glories.
The first time is the
best time and for the TFC after many decades in Major League Soccer, the Boys
from the TFC never made it to the postseason since their inception in league
play, besides last year when they made their first ever trip.
Only one negative
comes in the way and for both first timers, as one will emerge as the winner
and will go to the league final and play the winner of the Western Conference
for the always-coveted MLS Cup and a team from up north that will make the trip.
This is a first!
Against all odds for
Grey Vanney squad, he and his Reds came determined to deliver the final blow to
the American version of the Sky Blues who did not show anything in their game,
despite playing in the always difficult and striking colossus of the Bronx.
No arsenal, no game
plan, no attacking options and no ambition are what the Big Apple Boys lacked throughout
the whole ninety-four minutes of play- as results speak vividly at the end with
a horrid and unforgettable loss.
This time no excuse
for any of the these squads managers as both of their initial elevens put in
the field came loaded with their best galas or players, still the Big Apple
Boys had an outstanding lineup with an edge in their favor.
As the NYCFC Boss
Vieira, sent a 4-3-3 formation with his frontal attack headed by David Villa
accompanied by his sides Jack Harrison and Thomas Mc Namara and behind the
return of Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo in the midfield.
However the NYCFC had
a problem from both of his international stars, coming from injuries and both playing
with certain caution and did not displayed any of their top game.
For Greg Vanney the Toronto
Boss, he also sported an initial eleven to fear and making it an even match as
many say a pound per pound one, as the Canadian squad Manager, once again
display his game winning 3-5-2 formation.
With a five man
midfield and to reinforce a three man defense, making it impossible for the New
Yorkers attack to flourish and get any liberties in the game they are
comfortable with, something not seen from them all afternoon long.
At the end this win
for Toronto FC, exposes the initiative put in display by this squad front
office in making a contender out of them and since last campaign after experiencing
their first ever-postseason appearance, their desires of excellence became a
reality.
Still one match at a
time and with the prospects of a playing their first ever final, the only obstacle
for the Reds is one call Montreal FC and for sure this series will reveal the
rivalry between these two squads seeing in it with a total passion and disputed
competition.
I cannot believe how
the TFC seal the deal with a 5-0 win, seeing Sebastian Giovinco with a treble
of an afternoon , Jozy Altidore and Richard Osorio sealing the deal and putting
their club on the brink of their first ever final.
