Hail to the chief and
for the Republic of Ireland Boss, for his all-around feat at Vienna that could
not come in a better time, after coming and play the role of spoilers and
derailing their hosts hopes with a meritorious win.
As Ernst- Happel
Stadium with a near sell out and a nation behind its squad that was looking
forward to net a win and close this year with a positive and atop Group D.
Unfortunately, for
the Das Team Boss Marcel Koller, things did not work as expected as he and his
Boys stumbled across an opportune James McClean who sank the hopes of the
Austrians with his lone goal.
After the win at Viennese
lands, the Green Army brace itself in first place in this group and looking a
bit optimist coming into this 2017 and
closing with a high note with a comfortable lead of three points over Serbia and five over Wales.
Still their date next
year against their cross the channel foes in Wales will be one tough and challenging
one for the Boys in Green as always the face-offs between these two, is always one
heavily contested affair.
For Martin O’ Neill so
far his achievements are placing him in the Pantheon of immortals in the
Republic of Ireland list of Managers that after Jack Charlton no one could
perform the feats of this amazing man.
With a brilliant run
in the World Cup qualifiers, O’ Neill is playing a sort of one match at a time
and for the North Ireland native, as his work in his initial eleven is yielding
positive results and putting in play a prolific 4-1-3-2 formation.
Results are becoming
evidently more in his squad favor and shaping them besides as leader of their
group but as all around favorites to win it all in Group D and net their pass
directly into the World Cup as one of several of Europe’s representatives.
As 2017 looks a bit challenging
but not difficult to conquer, as in today has match the Green Army demonstrated
their willingness to become a national and in all of Europe as a squad of a lot
of authority and to be taken seriously.
Their performances in
the past Euro in the knockout rounds left some doubts, but not in the end when
the Boys in Green made many headlines after beating Germany and a loss with
Poland that netted them their pass into that four squads especial playoff.
After eliminating Bosnia
Herzegovina and moving on to their consecutive Euro, where they moved into the
round of 16 and eliminated by France, still their performance in this tourney became
a valuable one.
Now they have another
date with destiny and with a one of a kind performance lately in the qualifiers
and playing a strong football lately, by showing off their mettle and ambitious
desires of making a run into the Promised Land.
As the Republic of
Ireland squad continues to write its own history and destiny in the qualifiers,
2017 can be a decisive year for Manager O’ Neill to consolidate himself as the
one that delivers back-to-back passes for his Boys in Green.
This would add
another star in O’ Neill list of achievements to the Green Army helm.
Because If this would
to happen, this feat will elevate highly the reputation of Irish football in the
international stages after he consumes the feat of earning one of those coveted
tickets into the grand fete of football.
At the end kudos for
the Boys in Green after closing with a valuable win and uplifting this squad to
become the overall favorite to finish in the top of its group, although the fight
is not over and there are plenty of obstacles, still this squad can be victorious
at its close.
