For the Toronto FC this
midweek schedule is becoming a sort of beneficial as the Boys from up north are
entering into a five game winning streak and proving their might at home and as
a visiting squad.
With back-to-back
matches last week in Wednesday night tight win over the Orland squad and later
going to Century Link to play the Seattle Sounders in a match dubbed as the
revenge, the TFC continue in the positive.
As another edition of
Major League Soccer in what I personally called hump day football, the TFC
being its main characters of the league midweek matches.
This was a much-disputed
Eastern conference match between their foes in the Columbus Crew in a match
scheduled on Mapfre Stadium, as another challenge came for Greg Vanney Reds.
By missing one of his
main pieces in the attack with an injured Sebastian Giovinco and substituted by victor Vazquez, once again
Vanney sent a his traditional 3-5-2 formation that included Jozi Altidore in
the attack as well Michael Bradley leading the attack.
When the Crew plays
at home, the Black and Gold is one stingy and inspired group that does not like
to yield an inch to its foes they are playing against and looking invincible
and defiant in every minute of play.
By opening the scoreboard
in the 28th minute Federico Higuain via a penalty, the way manager
Vanney managed this match and made his moves in an opportune way, this squad as
stated in MLS site as the deepest.
They did honor their
moniker with a raucous and one of a kind win today at the Black and gold
hideout, considered as valuable and elevating this club confidence one match at
a time.
I mean the moves that
the TFC Boss made, were the difference maker when he brought in the 40th
minute of Chris Mavinga for Tousaint Ricketts who became the difference maker
and hero of the match.
Later on in the 53rd
Benoit Cheyrou for Jonathan Osorio and the 78th Raheem Edwards for
Jay Chapman that at the end were the difference makers for the visiting Toronto
bunch and raise itself to another win a valuable one.
I mean with an
opportune Ricketts scoring in the 81st minute to tie the match and
in the 90th to bury the Crew and silence a whole venue that saw a
10,000 plus in attendance, the TFC netted their fifth win in a row.
Very well this win
and with a match on Saturday at home against the newcomers of the Minnesota United,
the odds favor the Reds who can raise to the occasion with another win, still
the Loons are playing magnificent ball and it will be decided at the end.
For now the TFC are
in first place of the East and with a record of 6-1-4, they hold a slim lead of
four points over the Orlando City these with eighteen in comparison to the twenty-two
of the Reds.
This is a new squad
and the levels of energy this group possesses will be the difference makers in
the end of the campaign were they could do another encore in the league finals.
