Despite the world outcries
of Wegner being out of Arsenal, for the Frenchman is business as usual and not giving up on his quest to at least finish among the
top four.
So far, the Gunners
have delivered two valuable wins in their quest to be in the elite four that enables
them to be in the always celebrated and out of this world fete of football, the
Champions League.
This is one affair
that for nothing of this world, Arsene Wegner would not like to miss!
With twenty years repeatedly
finishing in the top four spots, the quest for Wegner has become an all-around obsession
to catch up and surpass the big guns of Liverpool and Manchester City.
After back-to-back
wins and especially in the weekend over Manchester United at Emirates and now
at St. Mary’s over a stunned Southampton squad, the heat is on for the Gunners
to reach their goal.
Still with three matches
at Stoke City away and closing at Emirates against Sunderland and Everton, the
Gunners can seal the deal if Man City and Liverpool yield in the end and the Londoners
make their bold move.
For the Saints in this
match their hopes lied in netting an important result translated in a win after
their three match skid so far in league play, Claude Puel, Southampton’s Boss
was desperate for a win and the Gunners would been a raucous one.
Not today as the
London Boys have several tricks of their own and with their cache in their initial
eleven, their main aim was to continue firmly and they meant it to display a one
of a kind football.
Something putting
evidence since the get go, as experience really pays off, as Manager Arsene Wegner
sent a new formation in a 3-4-2-1 to counter a 4-3-2-1 sent by his compatriot
Claude Puel.
That at the end work
wonders for the visitors, still with a much-disputed first half, the match
ended deadlock at zero goals per squad and looking forward to a much-improved
match in the second half.
Still the match in its
early 45 minutes saw how both squads fought constantly to beat each other’s keepers
and despite the tries, Saint Mary’s sold out attendance was still anxious to
see a score.
With the second half
under way and both squads putting on a fight it was when the Gunners via a
combination from Ozil to Alexis Sanchez inside the area the Chilean did a
wonderful move over two Saints defenders to beat the keeper in the 60 minute.
The buck did not stop
for the Arsenal bunch as the game continue siding towards them as another
combination from Ramsey heading to Oliver Giroud to head the go ahead goal in
what looked as the insurance one in the 83rd minute.
Lifting with another
hard earned and considered important win over a hapless Southampton, for Arsene
Wegner the fight and perseverance continues with his Gunners looking forward to
make the impossible of miracles.
At the end, let us
give the Frenchmen an A for effort and despite the protests and claims from
many of his sacking, time will be his best ally and the race is on.
